8/10 boxes

Bland and unimaginative, fanfiction tier story, and level design that feels ripped straight from mario maker.

the best crash game

Better than crash 3 for damn sure, not sure how it compes to 2 and 1 though, Im not far enough in to make that call

Gameplay's good, YMMV on the rest of the package.

2 > 1 > 3 > 4

This. Level design is unfocused and inconsistent but it's okay overall.

2>4>1>3 but there are no huge gaps in quality imo.

Game is okay. Gameplay is still fun, level design is cluttered, hidden boxes suck, story and voice acting are cringe.

It's alright. Autistically fucking hard to 106% it, though.

It's about time Crash fucked off and died

I just beat the dinosaur world. It's easily on par with 2, if not better. The levels are creative as hell and constantly throwing new shit at you every other minute, all the masks blend greatly into Crash's existing mechanics, skins are nice little short-term rewards for bothering to collect shit, replacing Warped's vehicle sections with Sonic the Hedgehog friend levels was a good call. The difficulty is also just right besides some crates being stupidly obtuse, it's not hard at all to run through casually but doing everything is the hardest thing in the entire damn franchise by a pretty significant margin.

The story and new characters are boring but there's so fucking little of it and it's all skippable that I can't even consider it a flaw, I straight up don't care about it.

so basically "its perfect"

I really want to fuck Dingodile

The game is pretty fun if you don't try to get all of the boxes and a miserable slog if you do. But if you've already resigned yourself to not 100%ing it then there's no motivation go out of your way to break boxes at all and you'll end up missing out on a lot of the challenging parts of the level, making it feel kinda bland.

I wouldn't say that. While I do think they're better than the airplane or swimming shit in Warped I do think that the new characters are still a little undercooked. Tawna's hookshot especially just adds nothing to the game besides making boxes a Sierra game pixel hunt. Bonus stages later on also tend to feel more like Flashback tapes than fun bonuses, which feels a bit like it's missing the point.

But the overall package? Crash hasn't been on my radar since mid-PS2 era and I thought I was done with the series but I'm really impressed with 4. They did as good a job as they could working the PS1 framework into a modern game without those two sides feeling at odds with eachother.

Best Crash game since 2003.

It's a really good game. It could've easily went the same way as Wrath of Cortex, but it didn't. No one cares about the story unless you're an autist, but overall it's pleasantly surprising how this game turned out. It's very faithful to the original trilogy but still presents new and interesting ideas and mechanics that aren't just swimming levels and etc.

How the fuck do you get colored gems the game doesn't tell you anything.

They're just hidden in the levels, although it's fucking weird they're not explicitly shown on the level select like in Crash 2.
I found the first and third ones pretty easily but have no idea where the green one is.

It has a lot to like about it but also a shitload of small issues that always irk me
The Good:
>Levels are creative and for the most part fun
>crash/coco control well and the double jump is better than the one in any other crash game
>it's a decent enough looking game
>flashback levels are the perfect length and difficulty
The bad:
>Slide jump is essentially absent, there is the crouch jump but it doesn't feel the same
>levels drag on for way too long most of the time, I can't even imagine trying to do the trials on some of them
>hidden boxes are literally in every stage, forcing you to stop and start to check off camera all the time
>box counts regularly go into the 300s whereas the OT never went over 200
>music is mostly forgettable
>scripted events just sometimes don't work like tawna's wall jump
>tawna levels on the whole are boring
>n.verted levels feel like padding

I think it'll end up being like mario sunshine in that its fun to play through normally but doing 100% is gonna suck dick.
Also the coloured gems are neat in how they are hidden but it's bullshit that they don't tell you what level they are in

tropical freeze for crash bandicoot

Change getting 100% from sucking dick to nearly impossible and your description is pretty spot on.

>>music is mostly forgettable
This is probably the most disappointing part of the game for me. I say this all the time but modern video game music sucks.

meh.

I want Tawna to crush my dick with her massive ass!

No one fucking told me about female N. Tropy

I will now buy your game

Is nice.
Also I do not care about the breast size, I want Tawna to crush my skull with those tight buns she has.

So it's like the original games then
