Indian, Russian, and Chinese might have been Desmond, I don't think they ever said but those were from before Origins and Odyssey anyway. Norwegian might be someone new.

They weren't. Arno is the ancestor of the guy in the movie and Aveliné isn't connected with her, she even meets Connor and lived during his time. Desmond's only MC ancestors afaik are Altaïr, Ezio and the Kenways.

Ubisoft made Patrice Désilets, the guy behind the games, ""leave"" and they started milking the franchise even harder. Desmond was in the way, his story was always moving towards a definite end so killing him was the only way they could make twenty-five more games.

The modern day sections in 4 are very short and disconnected from Desmond's as it was the first game after his death. A lot of them are optional, if you rush them you'll be in them for like 10 minutes max each time.

Maybe the movie guy is a distant relative of Desmond?

And don't let any of these nostalgic zoomies tell you otherwise. 1 had some good ideas hampered by boring execution and bland gameplay mechanics. Instead of iterating on the stuff that didn't quite work 2 just threw all of the remotely interesting concepts out the window and turned the series into a generic action adventure franchise while retaining the same shitty braindead gameplay from the first. Assassin's Creed should have been open world historical Hitman and not a single one has managed to live up to the idea. Absolute dumpsterfire of a series.

I played the game for maybe 2 hours.
Of that time, I spent a full six and a half hours walking slowly with characters, listing off tiresome dialogue.

Black flag was fucking incredible. Ignore the story and just fuck around with the ship.
