Did something go wrong? No one ever talks about this, and when it came out I also don't really remember anyone talking about it. Especially compared to Tactics Advance and the Playstation game. Planning to play it for the first time soon

It's ok

For me, it's better than the original.

Gameplay is incredible, the jobs are solid, and the Bazaar system is actually a lot of fun. The story is hot fucking garbage except for the Duelhorn quests but this was released in arguably the driest point of Squeenix's talent famine post-XII, you weren't going to see anything good there.

It doesn't have any memeable story characters like Marche or nostalgiafaggotry like FFT to capitalize on. It is almost pure gameplay, refined to a polish from FFTA's. The main quest is largely an excuse, and there are a metric shitton of sidequests.

Also, Adelle a cute.

There are a lot of DS RPGs that are sequels or spin offs to beloved franchises that nobody ever mentions.

Like this one, the canon and direct sequel to FFXII, which addresses a major complaint about FFXII with Vaan and Penelo largely being tangential to the plot and makes them the main characters here. But how many people have actually played Revenant Wings?

I have
I also haven't played any mainline final fantasy game

a step up from FFTA but still not close to the original

I dont even remember much of it, but I think I didnt like how they changed the judge system and I might have dropped it before finishing.

I literally just found out that the DS got a port of the PS1's Rhapsody a musical adventure. I remember thinking these years were a low point for jrpg, cause PS3 was completely dominated by all those Atelier and Neptunia games. Guess I was looking in the wrong place

I have played it, then dropped it as I found it to be horrible.

I remember getting stuck on a dragon.

I remember spamming holy because it had nice particle effects

I actually spent around 300 hours in this game finishing all the side quests and maxing all the jobs or something like that. It was fun.

I remember realizing I was wasting my time having my slow-ass Cannoneers shoot MP bullets at my powerful mages to get them going when White Chocobo Knights do that job a million times better.

it's not as good as the original, in story, characters, direction and narrative. The whole atmosphere was different and felt more mature in Tactics Advance, meanwhile in 2 they even changed the character artist and made all the portraits look cutesy. The combat is deeper and better though as well as having more enemy variety

honestly romhacks for this game are getting more advanced and customizable. If they manage to replace the portraits with the original ones and/or change Luso as main character (or at least remove the silly hat) then the game would be actually enjoyable.

I don't know how people complain about having no games to play. If you have a DS and a flash card (and everyone should have one by now) - you have a massive backlog.

The library had far too much coming out for even unemployed NEETS at the time to have played through it all even by now.

Holy shit there's romhacks. Fuck yes.

This. One of the games I always list in DS threads that you should play.

>that one quest where you have to awaken adelle by soloing a boss
>didn't use or level her AT ALL and got one shot

Because it was awful. Slow combat, starting battles with no MP, and nerfing of most classes.

Its a ton of fun, story is pretty shit but its not really the point, however similar to FFTA its way too easy

Music is GOAT

I'm hacking my 3ds soon, between the combined libraries of ds and 3ds idk if i'll be touching anything else anytime soon

I played like 60 hours of this game and I feel like I never went past half of the plot. If there was even a plot

>FFTA2 thread
>no posting best girl
For shame Zig Forums.

Good sidestories, inferior main story. Has similar balance issues to the old games, even if it is an upgrade from the previous ones.

This is an ok game, but I can't remember finishing it.

There are only 2 things I hate about this game.

1. Some jobs having shit growths and all characters' stats only being their growths (FFT had multipliers per job that would change your stats at least), so every second you spend outside Ninja/Paravir/Assassin is bad stats your characters will suck for
2. Even after rebalancing the stats in my own mod, SPEED GAIN IS LITERALLY RANDOM, +1 or nothing each level, and differences between jobs are just the different chances, so the optimal way to play is unfun savescumming your level-ups

Okay wait there are 3, I forgot Adelle. Adelle is the worst most embarrassingly poorly written and unlikable character I have ever seen in an RPG. Everything else is great.

4: laws that fuck you for missing and laws that fuck you for taking the quest at the wrong level
5: the auction house
6: every single FFXII character forced into the game is annoying and awful

*7 whatever

The only thing that really piss me off is that you has to level up Adelle, Cid and Hurdy.

Scions are straight up cheats and if you use them you're a baby. They make Quicken and Smile Toss just 100% broken instead of just really fun powerful skills.

Also what was the fucking deal with everyone and their mom having Ultima attacks to make everything else a waste of time to pursue? Viera with far-shooting bows and Blood Price made this even dumber. Fuck Ultima, let magic be varied and interesting someday, Square.

Magick Frenzy is my favorite ability, what's yours?

Did someone actually mastered blue mage?

No because I just looked up which abilities were useful and which were a waste of time to obtain for any reason.

HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU LIKE ANY FFT GAME? They are SO tedious.

lack of ADHD?

give me heroes of mana

Would you a bangaa?
