Genuinely fresh new take on an open world style game

>Genuinely fresh new take on an open world style game
>Genuinely intriguing lore and world
>Genuinely great OST
>Graphically very impressive accompanied with great art direction
>Multiplayer aspect led to some memorable moments
Despite all of this, the game felt utterly soulless. Why is this?

It did not.
It's absolutely one of THE most soul-filled titles to come out since PS2 days.

>Big budget actors with mocap
It's the epitome of soullessness, mate.

Because kojima knows how to create stories, but not how to tell them. Having exposition dumps takes away impact.

Because even an unsalvagably boring game can have all of those things.

You could have The Louvre be a video game and it would be full of profound, beautiful, unique, spiritually moving, culturally relevant and original content. Absolutely none of that, however, would precludes it from also being a bad video game. Getting it?

Missed the point of the noby-like

Do you think some studio will give him infinite more eh again after this blunder?
I feel like his name won’t have the same impact after death stranding

Infinite money

literally nothing to do with soul.
The amount of attention to detail and the plethora of tongue-in-cheek additions truly elevate this games appeal to all new levels.

>after this blunder
You mean how the game broke even even before the PC port arrived, and then started making crazy profits, all while enjoying raving reviews everywhere else except USA?

Did it really flop that hard?

I think it sold very well but Kojima burns money like no one else so unless it’s a best seller it doesn’t make money

It has everything to do with soul. Pumping in exorbitant amounts of money and effort into scanning in relatively big name movie figures into your vidya is about as soulless as you can get. Even worse is that some of them aren't even voiced by the person whose likeness they resemble.

it didn't. The ESL-spic's just shitposting as usual.

Not true, Sony wasn’t very happy with the sales

a sequel is already confirmed. What do you think?

the game broke even already in early spring 2020.

>a sequel is already confirmed.
Source?

Dude, when you invest a ton of millions breaking even is not good, making some money is not good, you expect a ducking huge return, brainlet

My opinion already came out 5 days ago.

fuck off phone poster.

official streams already months ago.

Stupid fuck

only person i can imagine you talking about with the VA is Refn, maybe? other than that theyre all voiced by the actor

>Phoneposter

>40+ minute long cut scenes of [character] talking while the protagonist fucking stares into oblivion while occasionally nodding or grunting
Same exact problem in MGSV. Absolutely soulless.

Why does Kojima continue to do this?

>die hardman

At some point this shit stops being cool and becomes cringe

>Not being able to appreciate the camp of 80s American action movies juxtaposed with the serious nature of the game

As I said there’s a point when it becomes cringe
Kojima needs someone to stop some of his shit, he is like molyneaux or any other famous game dev, the moment they become too big for anyone to stop some of their bullshit they destroy their legacy

It did have "soul", OP, you faggots are turning this into a buzzword, this isn't what it means, DS has the whole of Kojimbo's soul in it, the problem with DS is totally different, the problem is Kojimbo
is too weird and he doesn't reflect very well or give an afterthought on things he create, if it seems good on his head, he just does it, previously in Konami, more people would call his autism out, and say the stuff he's thinking is just unfun, nonsensical or just poorly executed, but now with full creative liberty™, he can make everything shitty and only pretentious fags will pretend to like it.

genuinely shit post

>Despite all of this, the game felt utterly soulless. Why is this?

The sacrifice for realism. Your battery runs out on your vehicles ffs. RIGHT in the middle of nowhere. It wasn't a "find random rocks and metal pieces laying around to upgrade your vehicles" type of game. It wasn't arcadey. The game was definitely meant for a mature audience. Not for CoD no scope quick killfags.

kojama's magnum opus

Came to post this.
