someone got rekt playing their first beat em up

It's fun with friends. There's a reason why pretty much every beat em up has simultaneous multiplayer. That's the main and most important feature.

>I mash button I do stupid attack HURR DURRR har harr
Okay retard

What's wrong with you?
High level/difficulty play gets a little technical and shitty but fundamentally they are one of the most cathartic and fun genres.

case in point

Okay retard

>cathartic
Not when every single enemy takes forever to die and everything feels clunky and slow which is all beam em ups.

I can't wait to get back into Scott Pilgrim, personally. No idea when it's dropping though.

keep bumping about how much you suck, faggot
i'd say mechanics that reward positioning are the most important
but ye multiplayer's inarguably a huge aspect of it

Probably simulation racing and fighting games are the worst modern genres.

shit opinion

they're fun as fuck once you get good

games like final fight are shit because there arent really any ways to change up the combos or anything, i only like it because nostalgia goggles.
The best beat em ups are ones like AvP and Double Dragon Advance (especially the latter). Streets of Rage 2 is another game with nice graphics and sick music, but its gameplay sucks dick. The literal definition of a repetitive game.

You can play Turtles In Time, that's a pretty easy beat em up.

Think you might just have shit taste buddy.

Games like diablo, grim dawn and titan quest are much worse, they arent even fun with friends

AvP is my shit. It doesn't have enough recognition in my opinion. I'm glad other nice beat 'em ups like Battle Circuit got included in the bundle they released. That deserved a port for sure.

Games like Undercover Cops and Ninja Baseball Batman are also fun as fuck. I love games that give you some moves to fuck around with. Some real labbing dudes know how to pull off some combos in the makai series.

It was a boredom killer when you found this in an arcade.

It took getting the TMNT '89/Turtles in Time 1up cabinet and playing Streets of Rage 4 recently to get me to realize that once you get past the nostalgia of it, beat-em-ups get boring really fucking fast and were really only exciting way back when because of the cool licenses they used, the general presentation, and the fact that you only had so many quarters to carry you through.

Dragon's Crown Pro
Odin Sphere
Final Fight 3
Streets of Rage 4
Turtles in Time

are the only good side scrolling beat 'em ups

I heard that Scott Pilgrim is going to have a PC Release, I can't wait to mod the shit out of that game.

>mentions fun
>faggots proceed to hype one of the most grind-filled, overrated, enemy sponge, boring, sack of shit beat em ups in the history of the genre

>I mash button I do stupid attack oOAAAOOOOOooo
fixed

that would be crpgs, mobas, and anything else with point and click movement
also anything with turn based combat

they were meant to be quarter munchers and not much else, even as a final fight fanboy since the time it was released in arcades, before even the snes version, i say this
even when one of my favorite games is tmnt arcade (the first one)

Nah beat ems up are awesome.
