How is it that one game is so much better than another when they both play almost identically?

because 2 expanded on the basics set down by 1 and offered more freedom in how you approached character building

also it was more daring with its story and characters

1 is like a TV show reunion
2 has an interesting story

Turns out writing matters in an rpg despite what 26 year old boomers try to say.

One is lovingly crafted over years and the other is an Obsidian rush job with a few more added feats

I own both KOTOR 1 and 2 on xbox is it worth revisiting them on console or should I just get them for PC

well said

Can you install restored content mod for the 2nd game on xbox?

Play them on PC so you can get the mod fixes

Kotor 2 has a completely different story than anything that had ever appeared in a Star Wars story before.

Kotor 1 is sorta vanilla in comparison. It isn't bad by any means but it is something you have had a million times before.

>It isn't bad by any means
Yeah, I liked how your female jedi companion literally loses to a cock if you are on the light side

>tfw Bastila was many kids first experience with the mind break tag

>when they both play almost identically?
They don't. They look the game gameplay wise but they have a different feel to them. Kotor 1 is overly simplistic when compared to kotor 2.

one has you start as a Jedi and has a high max level, while the other starts you as a non-Jedi class and makes the level cap relatively easy to reach through normal play, so you're stuck with either a slog in the early game or gimping yourself out of Jedi levels

>starts you as a non-Jedi class and makes the level cap relatively easy to reach
What were they thinking with this? The prologue area makes it easy to get to level 8 by doing almost nothing and if you didn't know that you become a Jedi later you can ruin your build by not putting enough points into Wisdom or Charisma.

boy, I sure do love spending the first five hours on a boring ass mining ship. One of the worst introductory levels in any game EVER! any competent dev would've realized how unacceptable this is

This.
When the majority of the game is spent in dialogue boxes the dialogue all the sudden becomes real fucking important.

Different people made them so they're very different games.

Yet both the writing and gameplay of KOTOR 1 is lackluster.

I prefer 1 to 2

she does it if you're dark side too

>Mod Fixes
>Restauration of content

Play on PC, it is a bitch to make it work if you have an AMD GPU though, but it is doable.

How did you not like the horror atmosphere of Peragus?

>restoration of unfinished janky shit
it was cut for a reason

The mod felt pretty seamless when I played through it. the only real standout that I could tell immediately was modded in was this bitch on Dantooine.

desu it may just be me
i thought kotor2 was a slog vanilla
dropped it halfay in with the mod

Peragus is considerably better than Taris

up for debate on Telos vs. Dantooine, though

Dantooine is comfy. Telos is great but a slog. Up for debate should be Telos vs Taris.

Original Xbox? Maybe.
Xbox One/Series? NOPE
Get it on PC

This

Everything but the HK factory was cut for a reason.

one was made by passionate and talanted devs and the other by obsidian

the HK factory is absolute trash so that was cut for a reason too

I like 1 more than 2

They actually don't play identical due to the fact that Kotor 2 had a chance to add more of the mechanical shit that was in the Star Wars pen and paper RPG

kotor 1 should be fine on xbox. there's nothing substantial that i think you miss in that version. it's cheap on pc though and it's also been ported to android and ios i think if you really wanna try something different.
kotor 2 got a modernization update a while ago that makes it look and play better on modern machines (steam only, gog version didn't get it). there's also tslrcm which vastly improves the game (you can get it through steam workshop).

I can get through Peragus in 30 minutes and theres even a mod to skip it all.
