Frictional games have always been good and they've already done the female protag before and done perfectly fine with it. They're apparently taking a page from both SOMA and Amnesia on what mistakes they made and said they wanted to improve on both with this game, so i'm very excited.

I always loved Amnesia, mainly because I discovered Frictional before Amnesia was even out via Penumbra, and because I'm not a faggot that lets e-celebs dictate my taste in games.

No, its a disease that is actually kind of shared between people she knows. Which is why if you fuck up a lot in this game, it affects the game in major ways.

No, you see that would actually be interesting and make narrative use of playing a female, especially if they played up the fear of violation and extra vulnerability of playing as a woman (even if the 'scenes' on 'death' were only implied, they don't have to be titillating or coomer bait), so you can be 100% sure that won't be the case. The last time a 'mainstream' game let you be sexually vulnerable was back before there was a mainstream, in shit like Fallout 2. Now female characters are just effeminate bitchy men with tits stapled on and a special layer of extra plot armor.

Remember when Outlast 2, a game series known for it's sexual grotesque, where in the original you are chased by burly nude, witness a gay rape, (and iirc go through forced gender reasignment) actually pussied out and removed some audio files of a girl being raped despite it just being sounds with no visuals at all. The series is full of violence, sexual brutality, against men, but the worst you'll see happen to a woman is implication of something happening and corpse boobies.

Neither matter, I dont have an opinion regarding whether my character is male or female, and I don't expect anything from either unless it matters in the context of the narrative, like if you're playing as a mother or father, because those are one of the few examples of when it matters. Playing as a man or woman doesn't affect the story in any way unless the devs want it to. If the devs don't want it to affect the story in any way, then you're just being a schizo for losing your shit about the character being female.
I dont want videogames to ONLY feature female protagonists to further a story, I like seeing the protagonist as a person with a personality, not a guy with a dick or a woman with a vagina. Playing as a female shouldn't have to entail some bullshit to justify there being a female like pregnancy in the story. A character like Samus has no REASON to be a woman, they just are one and they don't need to shine any fanfare about it and the games are great as they are.

Being a man and being woman and both fundamentally different life experiences user, and you know it. From how people treat you, to your prospects, to how the country you live in has historically and culturally treated your sex, to how you see the world, down to to your very biology and the goals it drives you to. This means that most stories would play out fundamentally different depending on the sex you choose; instead as you note it usually doesn't matter, because they are treated the game. Hilariously Other M treated Samus more like a woman than the previous entries, and it got shit on for it because she was no longer Boba Fett with tits and a sexy Zero Suit form. It's safer to make the PC a bland walking camera with a purely cosmetic sex. But it's rarely an interesting way to go.

i just beat TDD again and loved it just as much as my 2nd playthrough. i'm glad frictional is actually handling things this time after the turd that was AMFP. i'm gonna be avoiding these threads when the game comes out to not get anything spoiled, but i hope you guys have fun when it drops.
