How much space do I need for VR?
2.5x2.5 meters is ideal, 2x2 works too.
Nope

The great thing about VR is that it punishes you for being a fat fuck
It's ok, OP is an autist.
You'll be fine, but I'd suggest not buying anything like blade and sorcery till you have more room. Some games take more movement than others.
it would be dope if you could import schematics of your house dimensions into a vr game and the whole house is part of a game
>but I'd suggest not buying anything like blade and sorcery
it's fine because I've pirated all the games for now until I can confirm they're worth it
You literally can you just have to put forth the effort of doing it yourself.
You should try out compound if you pirated it.
I'm sure you know about the more obvious good games, but I found it pretty enjoyable.
In case you have an Oculus product, just ask Facebook.
They already have all those measurements.
yep compound is ready
I tried to get as few as possible at the start because I easily overwhelm myself, but yea this is what I have ready so far (some for me some maybe for the family to try out)
+ alyx + gonna buy phasmophobia
I know you've probably heard a lot about Alyx, but I'd suggest putting it off till you have your vr legs a bit unless you want to use teleport to move, beatsaber might be good to start with.
hello and welcome to my room haha, why yes I do want to kill myself
also please god fucking help me, I need ideas to maximize the available playspace. Even the fucking bed can go
What's that wooden thing to the left?
And you could definitely remodel this to get a more effective VR-space
If the bed could go you could replace it with a futon or something you put out every night, that's a lot of space right there.
Then move all the other stuff to the sides/corners of the room and there you go.
Fuck this. You need a proper bed what else are you going to fuck in?
Seriously, though. You need something proper to sleep in or you'll definitely get more depressed then you already are.
Was just an idea, it's what I'd do in his room and he suggested it.
Personally I'd try and get the bed to the side of the room as much as possible, I'm not sure what the brown/wood thing is, a dresser perhaps?
Finding more efficient ways to get the large furniture items to the corners or sides of the room seems best, also that square area near the door looks like it has potential if it's emptied out, not sure if you can close or lock the door or whatnot. That is a door, right?
it's a giant 2-piece closet, both parts the same width.
the left part is where all of my clothes are, gets used completely pretty much, but the right part is mostly a bunch of jackets that can be put elsewhere, stuff I stored and some other trash I don't really care about.
Not sure how I would replace it in a meaningful way. Even if I removed the right part entirely that still doesn't get me any meaningful space I feel like
I need a new mattress but I'm really tired of them turning to shit so quickly and was thinking of trying one of those sofa/bed hybrids
>futon
I don't know man, I think my family will legit think I'm nuts, they don't even know I bought the vr.
>spoiler
no need to worry about that my friend, if you know what I mean haha
yes the dark brown thing is like a dresser, I keep a bunch of shit accessories in it, some books, laptop when I store it away and such. Also holds my whiteboard on top of it.
>that is a door, right
if you mean the dark slim quadrilateral then yes that's a door, it can be locked
Honestly the biggest problem seems to be the bed. I'd like to keep some sort of normal bed, but if it can be folded in a way or put upright in a sane manner so it gets out of the way that'd be cool too.
I'm starting to feel really cramped in this room and could use some decoration regardless if it's for vr or not
I'm scared of breaking that thing since I'm heavy but that seems great
There might be some foldable bed frames you can get, I know I actually have one myself though I wouldn't want to fold and unfold the thing every day.
It could certainly empty out more room for you and then be available for when you need to sleep at night, what's the big sale rectangle at the bottom right?
Can you clear that right side area?
It looks like a good space for vr, square, decently large.
I meant to type dark, not sale.
This is what I get for phoneposting.
you mean this? a dresser
is that a second desk in the leftmost edfe or a closet?
if its a desk I would consider just using one desk next to the entrance, moving the bed to the leftmost with the brownish thing at the bottom right next to it
then you have that entire space around your entrance where you can put your desk and setup
The way I see it, if you want to optimize the room with that much stuff in it I'd try moving as much stuff as you can to one side of the room or the other, depending on where you can fit it.
If one side of the room can be relatively empty, it might make for a good vr space, a folding bed frame would certainly help too since you could fold it up and store it more vertically maybe.
Already exists on SideQuest. It's a bit around the edges, but idea is there - you map your house, even furniture and it all becomes part of various games

Based. I bought a bunch of vr games but I pretty much only play this
it's a closet, I'll edit the picture to make it clearer. The dimensions of the furniture are somewhat off as they were fixed in this tool I used but the room dimensions are correct, I just measured them
yea I get what you mean but it seems rough. the problem are the doors (on the far right that empty space is actually a window door, but it's blocked off by an insect net so I never use it to exit/enter)
damn thats a closet? my solutions moot then
