you should be aware that the only people who like fo3 are people nostalgic for it, people who were around 12 when it came out

everyone told me it was good, that it was so much better than 4. well no, atleast 4 had gameplay, 3 has bad writing AND bad gameplay.

Literally playing through this for the first (sort of) time and it's great. Really gives me those Oblivion exploration vibes, and once you get over that it's not really a shooter the vats combat is great. I would be interested if OP could elaborate why he thinks the writing is bad.

All morals are so black and white. There's barely any characters that you have to stop and think about. It's just "oh, he's the bad guy, sure."

I wouldn't say it's horrific and I still enjoyed it but it's honestly worse than 4. 4 at least had gameplay, well written companions, and the idea behind synths while not properly executed was still rather interesting. 3 on the other hand had better side quests and a better leveling system. That's it.

It was good for the time. You're just spoiled.

It came out more than 10 years ago and blew away most people.

I was 15 when it came out, played it and enjoyed it. But after NV, I cant really go back.

I don't believe you. One of the first main quests has you resolving a disagreement between a pimp and former hooker who was stealing from him, and both are awful people where there are no "good" solutions.

It's for performance reasons. Gamebryo couldn't handle a big city area on consoles so they had to divide it into sections accessible by subway tunnels. Sort of like how the New Vegas strip couldn't be an open area on consoles so they divided it into sections.

More or less. Primarily it was because gamebryo would need huge amount of ram to load in the asssets of multiple cells, which consoles and then current PCs simply didn't have.

fallout new vegas came out 2 years later and is so much better.

I like the map and the atmosphere but it's pretty tough to defend much else in that game. Still enjoyed but that also probably has a lot to do with patches and mods.
