Huh, I did not know that. Also it struck me as wierd for white lions to be carrying axes. Given that the elves are supposed to be graceful peeps. Axes aren't graceful, they're brutal. Guess that's warhammer for you. It grew on to me, it looks cool on them and it fits

Do they actually? I feel like people expect too much of them. They don't cost as much as swordmasters, still offer AP. Although HE infantry really isn't that great in general aside maybe from Phoenix Guards. And well their spearmen, who fulfill their purpose very well indeed.
Right before I stopped the Vortex campaign for being a Vortex campaign I recruited Alistair and gave him the furry army with many Chracian warriors you would expect. Didn't really have the chance to test them out that much.

Doesn't mean much. Every army book points out that both male and female elves serve in pretty much every branch of the military, while also defaulting to male descriptors, sometimes within the same text.
When they were making Age of Reckoning they had some lore dude from GW come over to inquire whether or not WL could be female and he gave them the go ahead.

They'd probably win up against anything since they've got AP and the fact that you've reached critical mass with them. Not sure how many white lion units it would take to bring down 1 black ork unit or a unit of chosen though. but eventually you'd win kek. AP units do great against everything

oh yeah also, white lions were wicked sick in the tabletop, almost, if not swordmasters of hoeth tier. atleast that's what I heard from peeps online dissatisfied with their implementation

AoR was fucky with the lore for the sake of gameplay. Someone going over their doesn't mean much at all. "Disciples of Khaine" for instance are simply not a thing in warhammer outside of the MMO, no matter what some random employee said.
Anyway armybook fluff > anything > some third party mmo.

White lions as well and lion-chariots, some random archers and ellyrian reaver because I love this unit. Pretty sure some eagle as well for good measure. But overall it was supposed to be an aggressive rush-down army compared to the usual defensive spearmen-archer lineup.
Should really get back to a HE campaign to experiment with their units a lot more.

Their big thing was having the Stubborn special rule, which made them almost impossible to break.

If I recall they lose to other tier 4/5 anti-infantry AP counterparts like theExecutioners, Black Orcs, Chosen GW.

The game is ultimately all about match ups. Anti-infantry beats other infantry that is not good against infantry, for instance anti-large spearmen. Those however beat horses and big monsters. And if they don't beat them, they hurt them enough that fighting them with such units is not cost effective. Cavalry or fast monsters fuck archers, even though they don't have an "anti-archer" bonus, for common sense reasons. Some artillery is better at sniping big, single targets, other better against blobs. You don't need to study what each units does, or what their exact stats are. You just need to know their role and throw the counter against them.
Or do the same thing as any other tryhard and spam ranged units while camping in one corner.
