Final Fantasy XVI

If XV was so bad why is the XVI team ripping off it's locations and gameplay?

>If XV was so bad why is the XVI team ripping off it's locations
where?

>and gameplay?
XVI is Devil May Cry
XV was just Hold O to win

FF XV wasn't bad, it just had a difficult development and came out extremely undercooked. It was a conceptually sound game with a good setting and a decent cast of main characters. It wasn't great, but at least it wasn't XIII.

XVI's gameplay looks exactly like XV's

I'm not seeing it

You're blind

maybe so.

doesn't look like

I'm not barry. Just asking a question is all. Why copy XV if it's bad?

It's not like it's widely considered bad. It left a lot of people dissapointed because of its long development and rushed second half, but it reviewed and sold fairly well. It just wasn't up there with the best of the series.

>but at least it wasn't XIII
What was wrong with XIII?

Tried to fit a turn based JRPG around the structure of a linear action game, with predictable results. Didn't help that practically none of the characters were likeable.

can you imagine if it looked like this in-game and we could explore all the little houses?

Would've been nice. I wanted to that waterfall place to the right.

FF16 actually look like the biggest apology game for FF15.
>Instead of modern setting we get classical medieval
>instead of shitty gameplay they hired a DMC guy for the main combat designer.
>Lots of old references to vagrant stories
>Seems to be aiming for that FF12/FF14 feel.
>Yoshida said they made the initial reveal trailer with in-game assets ( a first for squareenix) because they didn't want people to say it was going to take another decade to develop
>Announced publicly that they had already "completed basic development and scenario production" to make people more assured.
If anything they're trying their best to NOT repeat any of the mistakes from FF15

>Instead of modern setting we get classical medieval
Nothings wrong with a modern setting
>instead of shitty gameplay they hired a DMC guy for the main combat designer
We don't know how it plays. For we know it could play exactly like XV.
>Lots of old references to vagrant stories
So?
>Yoshida said they made the initial reveal trailer with in-game assets ( a first for squareenix) because they didn't want people to say it was going to take another decade to develop
And because of that the reveal was lukewarm.

>Nothings wrong with a modern setting
Nothing wrong with a medieval setting either
>We don't know how it plays. For we know it could play exactly like XV.
We've already seen that it does not.
>So?
Nostalgia and references to older underrated titles is a nice thing user
>And because of that the reveal was lukewarm.
Speak for yourself, it thought it was cool.

Yes, we've seen that it indeed does not play like FFXV. Do i need to clarify further ?

>If anything they're trying their best to NOT repeat any of the mistakes from FF15
Can we stop pretending that FFXV was a disaster and a disappointment? It was alright, Jesus, get over it.

Fuck you i liked Sazh.
And XIII is way better than XV.

>gameplay
You clearly never played FFXV

Did you play it day one on release?
Goddamn was the disappointment just utterly crushing.

>we've seen that it indeed does not play like FFXV
No we didn't. We didn't see the controls. We thought XV played like an action game until they told us it hold O. It be the exact same.

The gameplay was kinda shitty at its core. It felt too floaty and out of control, especially during group fights. Basically the basic system of auto chasing every enemy farther from you than 2m, and limiting unique moves only to the time you're near enemy made great sword incredibly unenjoyable while being annoying enough with other weapons. It was also sprinkled too much with team moves which not only were main damage dealers, but also boring pace killers after the 100th time you order Promto to use Piercer or you score blindside you didn't even want to score.

The main game was probably at its best when you were having air battles against big enemies with exception of that water snake, but otherwise I feel like a lot of enemy design is just dull or annoying and some enemies have absolutely retarded hitboxes.

I liked setting but I would prefer if we got actual city gameplay instead of having one city hub with nothing much to do and short segment in Altissia. The pace is all kinds of retarded seeing just how much story had to be patched in, and how once you pass road trip zone Noctis keeps getting guilt tripped by Gladio and the glasses guy out of a sudden. Whether it was intended or not Noctis' story was also so out of the loop with the plot of why darkness or Ardyn even happened.

>hour and a half old final fantasy thread
>19 replies

lmao

I did. And it was fine. Didn't even bitch and moan about that hallway section.

comrads was pretty fun once they added it.

I disagree.

Omggg my boyfriend Clive is soooooooooo hottttttt
Noctis us fuglyyyyyyyy desu

>I disagree.
Yes, cause you have no points. We don't know how it plays. XV's combat was bad because of it combat designer it was cause of Tabata wanting to casualize it. Since XV was successful SE could want it to be just as casual and the dev team would have to make it that.
