The perfect game would be 5's combat and level design, mixed with the social aspect of 4 and the story and themes of 3

3 > 2 > 5 > 4 > 1

3 feels the most inspired and fully realized in terms of making a daily life RPG. It has obvious flaws but also a lot of character and it's easy to see why every game after copied its template
2 is carried hard by its story and characters but they're damn good
5 is alright, it makes a lot of positive changes but still feels like it apes 3 without a good reason to and the characters and story also suffer
4 is not my thing, I don't like the characters at all but the small town setting is comfy
1 is boring as hell and basically just SMT-lite, but it's interesting to go back and see the DNA of what would come later. The alternate quest is also way better than the main quest, those dungeons are so devious

neither of these things are true, by MegaTen standards 5 and 5R are popular but by video game standards its still fairly niche. That said I believe 5R is the most mechanically sound RPG ever made and modernizes turn based combat better than any other modern RPG. I also loved the story and characters but there's definitely divide on that.

It's not bad, just way worse than 1-4.

I don't understand the p2 hype but this is a good ass list

4 is the quintessential Persona game and by far the best JRPG of all time.

5 is literally a turd. Never been more disappointed in a video game.

I just think P2 has an amazing cast and I like its tone and atmosphere and how different it is from the rest of the series. You get things that no other game has tried to do like adult party members. They're all likeable and well-written, even the ones that are played for laughs like Eikichi. I also love the way the plot exponentially spirals out of control into schizo bullshit. Without sounding like too much of a pretentious wankstain, it just feels like the plot is a little more sophisticated and ambitious than the other games, especially the way they both end.

And you know what else is cool? It's Persona 2, it's a sequel to Persona 1. You actually get to see and meet the characters from Persona 1. They impact the story. They don't do the anthology type thing that 3 onwards do where each game is essentially standalone
