Why would CEX sell an American N64?

why would CEX sell inferior garbage with garbage quality at double the price?

Fuck em man just let them go out of business

>WII U FOR 120 DOLLARS

FUCKING CEX

quality content

>it's generation
disgusting

CEX used to be reasonable now they target dumb nostalgic retards

Have Cex

Doesn't even have the expansion pack which they probably sell for 30pounds.

10 years ago people were dumping these things everywhere. I managed to get a decent collection going, sadly I had to stop it when fakes poured in and prices skyrocketed. I use to find n64s in foreclosures all the time.

Just emulate. Why would you ever bother with original hardware?

N64 was a piece of shit and only had like 4 games. I owned a PS1 and a N64 btw.
N64 was PS4 tier bad.
Even the fucking GameCube was better.

Unless it's had a massive jump in quality over the past year or so since I last fucked with it, 64 emulation is ass.

That's because they realised the rarity of what they had. Such a fucking shame.

N64 emulation blows

All the games you'd want to play should work well

I hope you use use Mupen and not PJ64

But Zelda OOT and MM and Mario 64 and Mario Kart and Star Fox

Kinda expensive if it doesn't come with any controllers or cables (the sign doesn't really specify). But if it's guaranteed to work it's not that bad. You can hop on ebay and pay less for a console but it's been sitting in a smoker's attic for 20 years and probably doesn't work. Is 70 pounds really that bad? I'd drop $100 on it if I knew it worked and I didn't have to fuck around with it. Ebay seems to have plenty here that work and come with games for $100.

>only 32 million sold
>less units sold than the genesis
>not even half as many games as the super nintendo
>outsold in Japan by the fucking SATURN
>god awful controller
>no games
>most powerful console of its generation, literally only 4 games run at 60fps
yikes they're really upselling this turd aren't they?

Learn how to repair shit I’m begging you

I won’t stand for this Japanese Saturn slander

Lol Why are they so much? I was just a little local chain game store here in Louisiana (Game X Change) and all "Retro Consoles" with Cables and 1 controller were no more than like 70-80 bucks, that includes shit like the Saturn, Dreamcast, PS2, PS3, 360, etc. Obviously not ps4 but yeah. Can't say too much about the game selection its self (they normally sell out of the good trade ins very quickly) but yeah at least those consoles look like they're in good shape I guess.

You might be better off just going on ebay and looking for a US seller.

>70 fucking lbs
LMAO

I want to play some old vidja man, not spend 8 weeks troubleshooting a fucking PCB and ordering new components.

Brazil here, we have 60 FPS like america, but the superior european colors. Pal-M is the perfect tv broadcast system.

Come to brazil, our dreamcasts look almost like VGA.

Also I wanna add when I was in Japan, N64 shit in general was always mega cheap. It just wasn't a popular console there so you can get never opened copies of games for like 20-30 USD.

Also the N64 is bult so goddamn retarded that it's idea of region locking was making the back of games different to block you from putting them in.... However:

Blew my mind to learn how easy this was. You can also buy a like 10 dollar thing to replace your current slot as well.

Tell me you at least flip your broken shit to someone competent then instead of throwing it away or something

Those and golden eye were the only good games, yes. Maybe Banyo and Conkers. Ok maybe 10 good games. 64 was a disaster in comparison to the PS1. PS1 had like 2000+ good games.

I got ntsc melee for 15 euros at an euro game store a few years ago so I'm not complaining. For the record they also had ntsc path of radiance for 65 euros.

>if you want to enjoy some retro gaming you need a PhD in electrical engineering
I'm not really sure the point you're trying to make. Is OP's post a rip off? Maybe. But some people don't mind paying a bit more to know something works. There's probably 100,000 N64s out there that "might" work, but not everyone has the time, skills, or desire to fix them up. All I'm saying is that some people don't mind paying a bit more to know something works. Are they getting ripped off? I think it depends how you value you time and what you enjoy/know how to do.

You're forgetting perfect dark and paper Mario, but yeah

>tfw I get more money selling on Facebook marketplace
The only trouble is dealing with people who don't speak good english and are a bit thick, but its quite easy to sell old stuff and post it out.
Collecting is a fools game now. Perfect time to sell up.
Screw CEX. They get worse each year.

I love this lil nigga like you wouldn't believe.

I really regretted getting the everdrive for mine

Not uncommon for Euro/Japanese/Korean Places to sell NTSC items. A lot of game stores in Japan will have a little section for US games and card shops over in Asia are drastically increasing their US card stock.

In the coming years where we move to a digital age of video games, expect US physical games to become some of the prime standard.

>PS1 had like 2000+ good games.
Lol

Whats not to like about it? I actually didn't expect to love it so much, I figured there must be a catch, but its great. I even find myself messing around with the Gameshark stuff despite never cheating.

There's just not a lot of games for the console, so I began to wonder why I ever got it.

>Game X Change
>they normally sell out of the good trade ins very quickly
Yeah. I worked at one back in the mid-2000s and anything that wasn't claimed by employees usually got snatched up by regulars. I miss the vidya prices from those days. Our old/'retro' section was awesome as well since we had shrink-wrapped display-only boxes for the games in stock. If customers were regulars or cool we'd let them have the box with the cart.

It's a good talking piece and people love N64 Mario Kart, Mario Party, etc. You really can't go wrong with it for the right price.

Sure some people love it but I don't. No interest in playing them.

>spending all that money to purposely gimp yourself by playing a game on a mechine which is not even 10% the power of your cell phone

>b-but its original hardware!

>not just running a proper emulator with amazing graphical filters on your tv with a proper xbox one gamepad

Is it pronounced "Sex," "Keks," or "C-E-X"?

trying too hard

The one I went to 2 weeks ago (Alexandria, LA) the guy working there just bought my switch cuz he offered me 20 bucks more than what the store offered lol. I enjoy going there but it can be really hit or miss. I was told they have to wait 30 days before they can sell back what they've bought as well.

I mean coming from Japan to LA it was just nice to see at least one video game store that wasn't gamestop.

I'll agree that overall you are correct. Taking out the sports stuff, bad licensed games, and wrestling (not a fan but I guess some people like them) you pretty much have 100 "games" and even less that provide you with a good time. But its been a joy exploring the library anyway, since I only had about 10 games growing up. I can't say I didn't get my money's worth.
