I actually like some story. some setting to get into. when playing the original mario, saving the princess isn't what you're playing for, but having more than nothing adds a certain layer.

Someone's a little seething. You're cherrypicking and completely dismissing anything good that exists in the new game.
The problem is that it's a fine pokemon game, but that's not a good thing because it should have been damn near the best; jumping onto a much more powerful hardware, they had a chance to take some risks and really shake up the game but they threw out another generic 3DS game.
