Your first mistake is assuming common sense and awareness from developers. Also consider this: the masses, on average, have shit taste. This does not mean they won't play good games, it means they'll play good games and then want certain things changed, in a bad way. And because they're the majority and they are loud, the devs will change it.

I have never seen anyone like this game on Zig Forums before.
He was either a diehard SteamWorld Dig fan or just picked a game that looked similiar and tried to be an ultra contrarian.
Nevertheless, his transparency opened my eyes to what lengths people will go to show others how special they are for liking a video game.

Several people on Zig Forums will find any superficial similarities between games and intentionally try to cause a "war" between them. Most of them are third party trolls with no affiliation to either game and just the desire to cause trouble (usually fueled by the childish thought process of "I saw too many threads about this game I don't care about so I'm gonna shitpost in their thread for daring to exist in my field of vision"). But some of them are mentally ill fans of the less-known game that somehow convinced themselves that "their game" not being popular is the fault of the other game.

Either what the other user said, or it's the dev trying to shill his game.

There's nothing wrong with the level of creativity or passion; the REAL PROBLEM is that talented people get discouraged from developing their talents to their fullest extent, because their *decent* debut efforts are buried in pure garbage and CAN'T get noticed.

Steam. It's fucking Steam, once the champion of the indie movement. Rather than give us more great Valve games, they'd rather sit back and make a few extra bucks by allowing heaps of shovelware hentai shit and asset-flipped garbage that doesn't even half work to muck up their store. THEY are the reason that so many passionate, hardworking indie developers can't even get noticed now. They helped foster the movement, and now their casual greed is killing it.
