We've known it was shit ever since it was released in Japan, where they actually like turn based combat.
The story is complete shit and the combat is lackluster.

All that happened is there was a long enough delay since the Japanese release for people to whip themselves into a hype frenzy again and expect it to be amazing when we literally already had everyone in Japan telling us that it was fucking awful. You could even watch the whole thing translated on youtube where you could see for yourself that it was dreadful.

Does anyone have that screencap summing up Yakuza 5's story in n greentext, with "DID U RIKE IT" at the end?

I really don't understand why they decided to do turn-based.

No but I can do one real quick
Baba and Shinada are fucking trash and huge wastes of time. Did you rike?? ?

this

Can't spell ignorance without IGN

>good is bad
I don't care about Yakuza, but isn't anything above a 5 good? Isn't that how number scoring systems work?

The only interesting Xbox launch exclusive and it's meh? Seems nothing has changed

The director enjoys his autonomy, doesn't want to be seen as stagnant, but doesn't want to damage the headway he's made into the West by dispensing with the Yakuza setting like he did in his previous "wacky" titles like Isshin. So he changes the other side of things, and he feels that he CAN do this because the boilerplate gameplay is a less important aspect of the series than the themes, tone, and feel.

Actually a fair score every Yakuza game I've played has been around a 7/10

Can you form a single sentence without being an exaggerating faggot?
The game never had horrible reception in Japan just because it didn't get 10/10s everywhere. IGN's review is also among the lower scores.

Score inflation because picrel. Why metacritic makes 75 yellow.

I like action games and turn based rpgs.
I have no issue with it.
But why the hell is is mainline.

It’s a bit stupid that they gave the review to a guy who mainly reviews racing games.

I dunno. Maybe that’s just me being cope.

>turn based

garbage

>IGN
it's literally the lowest score the game got
most of them are 8-9/10s so far

it's ridiculous how Zig Forums suddenly unironically takes IGN as the
gold standard for reviews when it was always used to be the laughing stock of them

>doesn't want to be seen as stagnant,
yeah they've only released the same fucking game 100 times over the past 15 years, time to change just one thing about it but still have it be a glorified assetflip made as cheaply as possible

>7 good
>0 bad
sounds like every fuckin consolenigger yakuza thread on Zig Forums
nothing new, nothing new

Attached: images.jpg (241x209, 12.46K)

Zig Forums just wants games to fail for whatever buttfuck reason.

funny how everyone on Zig Forums believes a 9 or a 10 score on anything is a bought score until it's something they desperately need to believe is great

Yakuza 7 is going to be great because the main character emotes a lot more. When ryo aoki is going to kill himself, Ichiban cries and wails and screams and begs him not to do it, and ryo is so moved by the emotion that he decides not to. But then a random guy stabs him and he dies anyway while Ichiban stands there. Then he screams and cries more. It's really sad and you can feel lots of emotion in the scene.

this

I find turn based combat to be really lame and cumbersome and I played Yakuza games for the exact opposite. Story also wasn't much to write home about, so what exactly is left for me?
I can absolutely believe that the turn based combat is very competently made, but that is irrelevant for my non-enjoyment of that system in the first place.
I want to play the guy breaking necks and suplexing people, not just tell him that he should try breaking necks and suplexing people.

>consolenigger yakuza thread
kill yourself obnoxious PCück. Yakuza was always a console series and you secondary newfags should stop acting like some elites in threads like this

there are people who unironically care about ign

This, every other game Kiryu just stands there and has a slight scowl when someone close to him dies.

>muh shadows

Fuck you i liked the baseball substories

He's taking the piss you goddamn imbecile.

Is there an easy mode option in the game? Can’t be bothered to grind.

He's not wrong. You're just a hater.

pokemon is a cultural phenomenon so it's ok

who said 0 is bad?

So they don't like the game because you have to play to not be underleveled?
Typical IGN.

Coping sony shills

their new engine built specifically for 3D beat 'em up PS4 games runs like shit on PS4 and is bad for 3D beat 'em ups
just sega being sega

I'm playing Yakuza 5 right now
Why is this game so fucking bloated? It's worse than Resident Evil 6 in that regard.

Of course he's not wrong, but it's not the point you think it is, or do you need me screaming and crying for 10 minutes for you to realize that this is a sad scene and I am feeling sad and therefore you should feel sad, let me spell it out for you more, because I don't think you quite understand how sad I am, emotion is very important to me because I sure am sad right now in this very moment of sadness and oh lmao none of that fucking E M O T I O N mattered a fuckin rat's ass anyhow.
Give me Kiryu failing to light a cigarette in the pouring rain over this shit any day of the week.

>playing anything that isn't 0
Cringe.
Kill yourself.

Don't care, still preodered ultimate edition on xbox sx for me and ps4 for my son

Looks fine since I'm not a autist who hates every turn based game.

Shame about DENUVO. Probably won't be able to pirate this for a few months.

Doesn't matter, pre ordered and awaiting comfy turnbased action

A 7 isn't bad considering what the series is. Yakuza 0 and Kawaii are the modern highlights of the series. 1 and 2 are great for their time, but every other entry ranges between "okay" to "completely shits the bed". This one tried something different and at least wasn't as bad as 3 or 6.

As much as Kiryu is emotionless, he still has his moments, the Cigarette scene being a good one.

just pre ordered my copy, cope
