Why don't moments like this happen anymore? When was the last time something from a video game made such a big impact like these?
Why don't moments like this happen anymore...
Because videogames became fastfood now.
FPBP
everyone became pussies
There are tons of iconic and clutch plays in E-Sports since then.
And for leeroy ? The culture is just dead,it won't comeback.
Leeroy was staged anyway.
Fpbp
people just follow big names now, and big names not necesarily have to be good or even enjoy games, with such an extreme quantity of speedrunners, esport player and just general streamers things are just children now
No it wasn't
Leeroy literally told everyone it was staged you fucking imbecile.
Even with how long this took, how the fuck could you think that video was genuine with that bollywood tier acting?
Leeroy was staged and acting like there has only ever been one moment where someone pops the fuck off in a competitive game is retarded, there have been plenty, they just don't get the level of exposer that the SF clip does.
>exposer
THAT AIN'T FALCO
I mean stuff like this still happens, you just dont like it because they are new games
Never mind, I found an article that said it was staged. That's actually rather unfortunate.
>there have been plenty, they just don't get the level of exposer that the SF clip does
I thought the significance of the SF clip was that it was frame perfect and nobody knew you could do that at the time?
You can't say that!
how can a moment like that happen on SFV when the game's like baby's first fighting game?
LET'S GO JUSTIN
It's not frame perfect at all, but the context itself makes it important. Two very high level SF players that haven't played each other much before I think, tournament setting, just looking at the way Wong's flailing at the stick to try to distract Daigo and everything else. It's a good clip but never forget Wong won the set
I thought it was real because I thought 10 man level 60 dungeons were that intense. It was pretty early in classic and no one I knew had gotten to 60 yet.
Same reason The Beatles became famous, the market is oversaturated. You can have 1,000,000,000 Leroys happen now in the space of 24 hours and no one would bat an eye because it's super accessible.
No kidding, you can literally parry all of chun li's super by mashing ryu's parrying with zero timing or skill required.
Really the perfect comparison for how the series has fallen.
Crazy moments in videogames have continued to happen. You just stopped caring.

It's kind of hard to say exactly what made the Daigo parry as impressive as it was made out to be. A lot of people say it isn't very hard, and it isn't, but it'd also be a lie if people claimed the Daigo parry itself didn't play a part in learning the timing of it. The reason it's GENUINELY impressive is what said, that it was a high octane, jittery competitive environment with loads of live spectators. But that isn't what made it take off. It took off because most players assumed it was impossibly hard at the time, and also because it looked really, really cool.
...
I guess I'll schedule something with my optometrist then.
