Just got this free with PS+
Should I play it?
flip a coin
>free
That's not how it works
Also, it's shit. Basically just a shitty 2D metroidvania that wants to be dark souls but fails because it offers no challenge
it was free, try it out, if you dont like it then nothing lost
Don't, pstrannies hate this game.
I've heard it's one of the hardest games there is.
starts out slowly but otherwise it's pretty good, definitely one of the best metroanias out there
bait \ hasn't played the game
Hollow Knight is literally the most critically aclaimed platformer and coincidentally the only people that disliked it don't know anything about the game itself other than it being an indie platformer
Do It but don't become and obnoxious fuck
Is it a collectathon/crafting to get 100% in the game?
No, collecting non-unique items do not matter to completion. With the exception of things like upgrade materials, which are not a problem. The game has tons of drops that are just used for currency or a niche use, but they are not necessary.
The game has extremely good content. Anywhere you go, there's content. You won't feel like you're doing anything repetitive unless you somehow get stuck for too long in an area. It's the most content-rich metroidvania out there without a doubt
collectathon yes but it's not worth it, just get the buzzsaw puzzle area and then beat the game, the rest is a pointless grind
Yes, really.
>pointless grind
there's not even any grind wtf. 112% is definitely worth it in every aspect except charms and maybe masks \ mana
Oh, forgot to mention, there are lots of Charms that give you strong af bonuses and you can swap them at checkpoints. They certainly feel the definition of collectathon and some are very hard to find, but overall you should make it through the game with like, 10-3 of them missing, so it's not really a problem. Plus, these hard to find charms are usually parts of areas with very interesting side content. Interesting like just about any side content in this game.
This has a 10/10 rating on the trophy guide, holy shit.
Yes, I'm a trophy whore.
if you want all trophies then your biggest challenge is a boss rush with all bosses in a row+one but it's actually easier than it seems
the game's difficulty basically depends on what ending you're trying to get and how you choose to resolve the grimm troupe storyline
>ending 1: easy final boss
endings 2 through 5 require you to like sawblades
>ending 2: easy final boss
>ending 3: harder final boss
>ending 4: get fucked
>ending 5: do a moderately difficult task the game never tells you that you can or should do, and then get fucked
>grimm troupe 1: easy
>grimm troupe 2: get fucked, but not as bad as endings 4/5
Is it harder than Rogue Legacy?
I swear to god those spike things hornet throws in the air in the second fight are almost invisible. Trying to do this on radiant and it‘s cancer
rogue legacy's diffculty isn't exactly easy to define, given its nature
i will tell you that the words "get fucked" are not to be taken lightly
the boss rush takes about 40 minutes for a successful attempt and ends on the three hardest bosses in the game, including stronger versions of the final boss and true final boss
I spent like 20-something hours on the radiant/hardest version of the final boss.
are you going for all radiants?
hornet 2 is one of the tougher ones, but be aware that she's far from the hardest
markoth and absrad will require you to execute at a higher level for longer
I didn't find it too difficult simply due to it not having nay speedrun trophies. Rabi Ribi was a fucking nightmare to plat where as Hollow Knight just felt like a pretty decent challenge.
i never actually beat radiant absrad and i no longer have my save file with all ascended
the game sold a lot of copies, you dont need to shill it anymore.
yes the game is fun
Yea. I‘ve already done nightmare king, pure vessel, sisters of battle and they were pretty fun. Some bosses just have these bs rng patterns i can‘t stand
good luck, man
for markoth, remember that dash slash outranges his shields and grubberfly's elegy goes through them
i can't give much advice for absrad beyond that it's going to take you a lot of tries, i never even reached the climb phase on radiant
i'll gladly shill for free though because the game is good
I haven‘t even unlocked absrad yet since i didn‘t bother with the last pantheon. I‘ll probably do everyone else before that
it's a hard fight, it's a long fight, and there's a lot of rng
i'd recommend treating p5 attempts as attempts to unlock her in the hall, you will invariably lose the first time you face her
Starts off pretty slow. I suggest playing until you unlock dashes and wall hops, which should be within the first 5-10 hours of the game.
Pantheon isn't that bad since 90% of the bosses become jokes when you do them with the iframe dash. It's only a matter of practicing with the hard bosses until you can get them down consistently and doing the whole thing in one go.
