Why can't you teleport between lamps instead of forcing you to go through the Hunter's Dream?

It has to do with lore. Its always about the hunter going back to the dream.

Also the way inventory is set up you need to go back for blood viles and ammo constantly

Don't know I didn't design the game

They wanted you to get attached to the hub.

The game was meant to be as interconnected as dark souls originally. You probably were never supposed to teleport at all.

I wish there was an option to disable teleporting anywhere but the last place you teleported from.

>The game was meant to be as interconnected as dark souls originally
Then why did they thought it was a good idea to force you to go through a loading screen to level up or access your inventory?

Fromsoft have this bizzare habit of hearing feedback about the things they sucked at in their previous games and doubling down on the retardation a couple of games later. They fixed DeS grass with estus is DS and then went back to the farming system with blood vials in Bloodborne. I still think bloodborne is their best work but their is a LOT of retarded backward shit in it that they should have by then put behind them.

Estus sucked.
Grass sucked.
Vials sucked.
Gourd sucked, but was the least shitty.
They're just trying different shit every game.

I am speculating but it was probably a decision made at the last minute. You werent even originally supposed to start in the clinic.

It should be set up like the Ring of the Evil Eye but all the time. You get health back from successful kills proportional to the health of the slain enemy. Otherwise it just comes back at the bonfire/hub. Make healing items rare.

>set up like the Ring of the Evil Eye but all the time
Based as fuck.

>Estus sucked.
How does Estus suck, though? At least in DaS1 it's reusable, but is not too much.

I’ve heard about the early development story with Laurence and stuff but never anything like that. Is there any information on where you were going to start?

How does that work for bosses? You need an unconditional heal for bosses.
My idea was a free infinite heal on cooldown. You don't have to worry about stock, but you can't chug and play like a retard. There's abuse where you just run for bossfights, but just make it so the boss regains HP if they don't take damage after 15 seconds or some shit.

It's way too much healing and adds zero depth.

Vials that refresh at lamps is all I need, no shards or bonedust to look for

I'd argue that the healing system being "low depth" is fine for Dark Souls 1, in 2 they tried to give the player more options (while nerfing estus) and it just felt bad. 3 I think is in a good spot with the having to ration your flasks, but I've honestly not thought very hard about DS3 healing outside of that

This, also takes 16 minutes to load the dream and load back an area so you're less likely to teleport anyway, specially since going on foot may reward you with bullets and vials anyway

Ring of the Evil Eye is my favorite. Love how you can get +2 real quickly on DaS2 too.

Because dreams are important in Lovecraftian works, and because From software are a bunch of rice hat wearing buck toothed CHICKY CHANG WANG subhumans incapable of innovation.

>OH HERRO WESTERNER YOU WANT NEW GAME DING DONG FUCK YOU

All the games have some sort of momentum system in the form of kindling, embers, etc. and people are too retarded to realize they actually appreciate the vials.

Healing is important in Souls games. Each heal is fixing a previous mistake, and when you can heal and how much to heal are all important combat decisions. There is no reason not to experiment with the system and try to find something a bit more interesting.

Estus in 1 is better than 2, sure, but Gourd/Pellet fixes DaS2 and is "more tense" than DaS1 due to scarcity. Clearly grass is absolute bottom bitch, and the attempt to fix it with vial didn't work well (they probably should have had a minimal reserve if 5 vials even if you had no vials left). All these systems are meh. Estus in Dark 1 is bad even if it's not the worst

Vials would have worked with a minimum vial reserve so shitters couldn't contain about "muh vial farming." Kindling and rite basically completely break Dark Souls 1.

why are you in every one of these threads

Because I'm completely addicted to shitposting and haven't actually played a game in the past decade.

Please fucking help me guys.

Blood vials are an improvement on estus because even when upgraded to the max they will never give you back 100% of your health from nothing with a single use.

Because the Hunter's Dream is comfy.

the load time would be about the same either way, so they decided to keep it so you'd have to go through hunters dream.

>"Mpph, I want to go Upper Cathedral Ward but I'm currently in the Yahahr'gul Chapel"
>Touch lamp -> 6 to 12 seconds of loading screen -> touch lamp that goes to Yahahr'gul Chapel -> 6 to 12 seconds of loading screen -> Upper Cathedral Ward
>OR
>Touch lamp -> 6 to 12 seconds of loading screen -> Upper Cathedral Ward

It literally saves you time. Second time posting this since I fucked up the first post.

It's not so bad these days.
At launch, when the load times were super ass and the load screen was literally just BLOODBORNE, it was fucking annoying.
