name one game that does this
why cant any of them get it right?
Holding a sword properly
No one cares femboy
a lot of people care they just dont know it.
>hmm swinging this sword feels like shit but why?
>player character is holding it like a retard
>game feels worse
Maybe it's related to the more ridiculous trend of swinging swords that are too big to even be held with two hands as one-handers
Rude
Why are autists so obsessed with realism? An absurd overfocus on that over every other aspect with completely unrealistic ideas about how it matters and affects a game. I mean just look at this , they actually believe the character holding a sword 3 inches too low to be perfectly realistic makes an entire game feel like shit.
You legitimately need help, OP. This is crippling levels autistic tunnel vision.
it makes the sword feel like shit why are you so enraged?
you dont even have an argument either you just shriek AUTISM AUTISM like im the one with the problem.
heres the facts that you cant even fathom for some reason.
its not about realism, its about making the weapon feel good to use, and the best way to do that isnt always realism.
if the weapon feels good because it looks good, than it IS good and the fun in the game goes up.
do you hate fun or something?
i bet you bitch about people wanting better sounding guns too, or better looking armor, or character models.
>NOOO YOU CANT ASK FOR THE GAME TO BE BETTER THATS AUTISMMMMM
i think you're the one with the problem actually
now get off my board
I hope you get the help you need. Good luck, op.
>deliberately making your attack range shorter
OP is a retard
>deliberately making your attack speed slower
Not him, but it's simply a difference in values. He prefers realism for that thing, whatever. People prefer a lot of things that may or may not make any sense. Get over yourselves and get over other people having different interests and values. This goes to both sides of the party.
>game has different kinds of swords
>with proper stances
if you want to be like that it would also make your attacks stronger and faster cause you actually have a decent grip of the sword, and thus more control
In some situations, sure. But in terms of "Are they holding the sword 'realistically' or are they holding it 3 inches too low", you will never practically notice this unless you are pausing/screenshotting/photo mode to look at this kind of thing. It has 0 impact on the gameplay.
>you will never notice
are you saying you never look at the thing you're holding?
>0 impact
it affects game feel
The only time to care about things not being right are when the thing thing themselves contradicts it.
If the game had a scene where the character was told not to hold it that way and they totally understood and said they'd start holding it right then there's a problem if the model/sprite doesn't.
But if it's just because muh realism which has no place in a game you're retarded.
Do you whine about Mario jumping like 4 times his height even though most people can't? What about Sonic being supersonic at the very least even though no hedgehog can do that. And also isn't blue.
Do you get the point yet? It's not this reality. Stop acting like it is.
>its not about realism
here you go since you missed it.
i dont whine about mario jumping high because it feels good to jump in mario games.
stop trying to label me so you can pretend to have an argument.
If it is a sim game, or a game striving for realism then, then yes realism matters. But in, say a character action game such as dmc, or an rpg such as the divinity games, such a "issue" or difference is so minor that is absolutely reasonable that it would never be noticed if you are not specifically looking for it, and even if you did would have no more impact on the game than the material of their pants. It's literally a non-issue in most games.
Unless, of course, you overfocus on tiny details such as this to absurd degree. I wonder what would make a person do that.
OP has never held a real sword in his life.
Often you would hold it in the middle or near the bottom to maximize reach and to prevent other blades that landed on your cross guard from chopping or slicing your fingers. The only swords that you would hold close to the cross were ones with complex guards (this allows you to safely wrap your index finger over the cross for better control) or blades where your hand fits very snugly such as viking swords (often paired with a shield, so you wouldn't rely on blade binding as much). It is common practice with two handed swords to leave at least a 1 inch gap between your hand and the cross for the reasons above.
>It's not about realism
>But this fantasy game is unrealistic in a very minor way and it ruins the whole game feel
Gotcha.
hes holding it in a relaxed manner tho which i actually like, its a lot more than they did in the other souls games.
as far as i remember it looks good in actual combat (even if thats because of good enough hand positions and it being hard to notice while fighting enemies) so i use it a lot
i wont use the heide knight sword tho.
I think you're just at the wrong place to be talking about this shit m8. It appears the people in this thread are basic and hold no values of their own.
Which games are you talking about here? I can understand your point of view if the game uses sword combat and the user is supposed to be professional. Also, I don't know shit about swords, but I assume you can tell they're not holding it right just from the swings.
>i percieved your reasoning as being because its not realistic enough instead of what you're actually saying
>gotcha
stop
Megaman X5
It was a gotcha as in "I understand", not checkmate, I can see how that came across wrong. That one is my bad.
hey retard, you change your sword grip depending on the situation, while it is also based on your stance
t. actually held fucking swords before
You're wrong, I know I am correct because I read an article on reddit and also watched a youtube video. That means I am now an expert and will convince everyone else of how smart I am, and how every piece of media must conform to the video I watched.
What if the dude just likes to hold a sword like that lol
it just looks bad, it doesnt really matter if they're a professional or not it feels bad either way.
basically any game with a sword like botw, elder scrolls, dark souls, nioh.
its any weapon too, a lot of games have you holding guns in wrong ways, tho its not always at the expense of the gun feel, you dont hold pistols corectly in cs go but they still feel good to shoot. in halo 1 and 5 you hold the magnum correctly and they feel very good to shoot.
a couple people in this thread just label me as a realism fag tho
hey retard this thread isnt about realism
>not fusing Attack Speed++ on your weapon
Never going to make it.
how exactly does holding a sword a few centimetres too low make the whole thing feel like shit? you wouldn't even notice it unless you actively looked for it just to shit your pants in anger.
>implying he typed all of that in 66 seconds
Why the fuck there are so many replies to a fucking copypasta
>a lot of people care
Lmao no they don't, you're the only person in the world to complain this much about something so stupidly harmless. Yes, it is perfectly reasonable to call you an autistic sperglord, so don't even try to deny it.
Doesn't change the fact that it rings true.
>you wouldn't even notice it unless you looked at the big weapon covering 1/4 of your screen
user...
>how exactly does holding a sword a few centimetres too low make the whole thing feel like shit?
because it looks bad and would be bad.
>they just dont know it.
you missed this part buddy but thanks for coming :)
