Is this the most forgettable mainline Final Fantasy?
Is this the most forgettable mainline Final Fantasy?
>Is this the best mainline Final Fantasy?
Fixed that for you
if you're a pleb, sure
3 or 5
yes
Honestly the large cities and open-world/mmo style of this game turned me off big time. And that’s coming from someone who has played every FF in existence. Story felt slow and boring as well. Game overall just felt very off
is that CAPTAIN BASCH FON RONSENBERG of DALMASCA???
>Dude what if we made half the playable cast be inconsequential to the story
>Dude what if we made a cast that barely says anything and almost never interacts with each other
>Dude what if we made multiple cutscenes where the main character has no idea what's going on and just stands in the background while people who matter speak
>Dude what if we made a villain who has zero emotional connection to the heroes and doesn't even meet them until the last ten minutes
>Dude what if Star Wars
>Dude what if we gave the narrator a comical Apu accent
>Dude what if we made a political plot and then ruined it by turning it into standard ancient god shenanigans
>Dude what if we made a plot where the heroes have almost no impact on what happens until 95% of the way through the story and spend their time traipsing through non-descript caves and ruins
>Dude what if I'm Captain Basch
>Dude what if we made the sheathing/unsheathing animation stop you before and after every battle
>Dude what if we took everything 100% seriously and had zero levity
>Dude what if we wrote all of the dialogue to sound like a Renaissance Fair
>Dude what if we we had no overworld and all travel was handled by a menu or floating teleport crystals
>Dude what if we made a battle system where you set everything up in advance so that you don't actually play the game
>Dude what if we made summons useless except for opening doors
>Dude what if instead of fun side quests we had only fetch/kill quests like in some generic MMO
>Dude what if instead of having fun side games like the motorcycle chase and Triple Triad we had nothing
>Dude what if we had really shitty music
Holy fuck BORSCHT VON LICHTENSTEIN JUST FLEW OVER MY HOUSE
This
Feels too much like an mmo.

>Dude what if we did all this and it was still better than VII
>despite this, FF12 was still one of the best games in the series
Also the political shit leading up to the god shit makes complete sense if you fucking follow the plot you normalfag. I know this is copypasta but still fuck you
Apparently not since FF14 and FF7RE and FF15 all used design elements first employed in this game dumbass
Yes.
But VII is actually enjoyable.
I seI see a lot less pleople talking about 2, 8 or 13-2
Its the only FF i played and i loved it
>8
Fucking what? Seems to be a thread where someone's complaining about VIII twice a week at least.
best girl tho
>>Dude what if I'm Captain Basch
then you'd be based
nah thats 100% 3
1 and 5 do everything it does better
This game is pretty much Xenoblade 1 but good.
>Complains that half the cast is worse than the other
>Those three are actually standard shit for FF; and Blathier, Basch and Ashe are the best protagonists the series has seen
I see the fagott coiled here before me!
This. I can't think of a single thing memorable about 3 nor have I seen it ever discussed at length.
VII has an actual good story and memorable characters, XII doesn't.
>still better and more coherent than XV
3 yes 5 absolutely not
They could have cut out a large portion of the game and not much would have been lost. I think the game slows down immensely after you meet the Marquis of Ondore. The whole sky pirates army thing wasn’t really needed and didn’t add anything to the plot or characters.
crystal tower is pretty much the biggest talking point and its usually in a negative light with how long/dangerous it is with no rest points and the fact you usually need to grind before entering
Other than that occasionally see people bitching about dumb boss designs like needing to turn entire party into mages or dragoons for a boss
Single positive thing I can think of is people being surprised about the initial map being a floating mass above the "real" world or maybe the interesting concept about the warriors of light having counterparts in the warriors of darkness
Im also pretty sure more people know about and correlate ff3 with Cloud of Darkness thanks to dissidia than Xande despite CoD being equivalent to necron or zemus/zeromus
I used to shit on this game in every thread but the Zodiac edition has made me a believer.
For me it's Ultima!
I was really hoping it would for me, too, but it did not. I still enjoyed playing it enough to finish it, but nothing about the game stands out. It's perhaps the only FF game I have absolutely no desire to ever replay.
