Sony will win this generation as usual because Nintendo doesn't really compete against Sony. They do their business and whether they can sell like 200 million Switches doesn't matter, Nintendo simply does its own thing and they are NOT stealing FF7 Remake or FF16 or Resident Evil 8 from Sony along with any other third party games.
Microsoft on the other hand is obsessed with their mediocre ecosystem where they do not offer anything unique with a hook.
Sony may not have the best first party exclusives, that would be Nintendo, but they do reliably are most likely to get the best third party support in general overall. The great all rounder. That alone secures Sony's dominance forever. The only way Sony can lose is if they monumentally infuriate third parties like how back in the 90s Nintendo's president told Squaresoft "Don't ever come back!" You know stuff like that. That's the only way I can see Sony failing and other seriously infuriating decisions like with the PS3.
Sony already won this generation by sheer default of starting with at least having one decent exclusive. And inevitably they will get even more. Sony's exclusives may not all be grand but they are still better than Microsoft's pitiful joke for exclusives while the rest of the time they are thoroughly supported by third parties. Sony has every single reason to get arrogant, they don't need to put effort to actually win.
