Why has no one tried to make a Sims clone in 20 fucking years?
Paradox (and whoever the dev is) made a killing riding on the back of simcity with cities skylines - and there are plenty city builders. Meanwhile Sims is unique and EA exploits that as much as they can. Literally free money

Jesus, 400 during the sale. Who the fuck would buy this before the discounts?
women and/or teenagers buying each new dlc as they come
Sims people won't play anything else and nobody else cares about it
>and nobody else cares about it
Literally untrue prior to EA sucking the soul out of the games
Is the base game even worth it for the price on sale?
it's quite shallow without DLC
you don''t need to have all dlc dumbasses.
How can you beat sims?
What features could you add that sims doesnt already have?
And you would never be able to beat the amount of cosmetic items it has
I didn't imply you have to. I implied people DO buy them, because it's a niche no one else is tackling. Dumbass
Wasn't there some patreon scam sims clone? Paralives or something?
You might as well just get invested in a better management game like Rimworld, Dwarf Fortress, or Oxygen Not Included.
dont give ea money
just pirate it, you can get any of the dlc you want then
just dont go trying to install all of it at once, the game literally will not load
>What features could you add that sims doesnt already have?
More simulation of the town as a whole rather than just one household? Make careers actually feel different from one another in terms of gameplay? Try doing a scifi or medieval setting? Remake the Sims Online? There's always shit you can do.
holy tits man
But that does prove my point. People will pay for an alternative they can't even play lmao.
Hardcore sims people won't even use custom content, because it's not official.
Literally download The Sims 2 with all the DLC from archive.org, it's still the best game, even if it takes some fiddling for it to work on Win10
Patreon funding for games development just seems like a terrible idea, you have a financial incentive to string people along and never actually finish your project. I'm sure some people have the integrity to pull it off, but I doubt most do.
That's weird, the sims has had a huge and extremely popular mod scene from the very beginning. Hell, I remember the first time I found a porn site in my life was because I mistyped a Sims 1 modding site's url.
Mods usually look out of place because there is little financial incentive to put in the effort (and skill). Sims has a very specific art style and attracts autistic women so I imagine they don't want to touch something that breaks the whole look
Because noone plays Sims outside of bored housewifes, so there is no market for it, you can make it 100 times better than Sims and noone would buy it. No, your coomer shit doesn't count because that's not the core and intended experience.
The Sims is literally one of the most popular franchises of all time man. Yes, it's more popular with women than most games, but it's not exclusively their demesne.
And my point is that those people don't play anything else, they would not buy a better replacement because they would literally wouldn't know about it. It's FIFA and PES situation, PES is better but noone buys it.
One of my girl friends from school, thats a married woman with children in her thirties now, only ever plays sims. She ordered a $1000 computer in her government job as office supplies just to play Sims 4. And she isn't tech illiterate she learnt a lot of stuff hanging around with me and our group.
There's an indie game Paralives that's under development right now. In terms of customization it already btfos sims. In terms of graphics it's dated, but it's a fucking indie, so I don't expect it to look like triple a ea title.

Feels like a very large undertaking but with the rise of base building mechanics in popular games, it should be less difficult than it was 10 years ago
...
>it's under development so it's a scam
ok
The fact it's funded by patreon is what makes it a scam. What reason do they have to ever release it when not releasing it provides them with a stable income?
Actual sales.
Thats only an incentive if you believe they can make more money via sales than by milking paypigs. I kinda doubt it. Steam has dozens of low budget management games, this'll be just another one with marginally better presentation. It's certainly not gonna make a dent in the Sims' market.
