I love the Yakuza franchise...

I love the Yakuza franchise. Considering that I liked every single one of them for story and gameplay will I like this one? Is it fun?

It's fun. Really simple and mostly pretty easy JRPG combat with the same enjoyable side content the other games have. The story's better than the series has had in a while (not counting judgement), too.

Its one of the best honestly

its goty

I've played all the localized ones except for Dead Souls and it's my favorite one tied with 0. I'd definitely suggest it. It's got one of the better stories of the franchise, and if you like JRPG gameplay at all you'll like the gameplay here. It's kind of like a boomer Persona.

It's the best one

Why is Yakuza so unpopular in the West?

the only games that sell really well in the west are either exclusively indie or heavily marketed AAA games. that said i imagine sales will spike in a year or so when the game drops down to the same price as 0.

>1.3x more popular in the United States
>why is it unpopular?

Did 0 sell well in the west?

Korea can't resist the Japanese bvll

It and Kiwami sold more than a million as they have Playstation Hits copies on PS4.

Yes, Sega admitted that 0 saved the franchise in the West. They were prepared to stop localizing it entirely. They only just -barely- localized 5 with a digital release.

I still hope for a localisation of Ishin. I know that some people here played it with a translation guide but I'm honestly too lazy for that.

what did 0 do so differently that made it popular with the rest

youtubers that redditors watch got the word out

It had the most effort put into its localization, was released when the PS4 was fresh and so didn't have that many games, and was the best game in the franchise.

Asia 70%
NA 16%
EU 9%

Unironically, Twitch happened and everyone was able to see how wild 0's gameplay was

Better marketing. I started with 0 and before of that I just thought that Yakuza was a Japanese GTA.

streamers and youtubers like dunkey shilled for it and the PS4 didn't have that many games. Also came out at a time that it had like 0 competition in like February or something. Also it was actually marketed.

I wish Sega did a Yakuza spin-off with Italian mafia. Maybe in Chicago during prohibition years or in Sicily in the 80's

Sega claims that it's difficult for a western to enjoy Kenzan or Ishin without a good knowledge of the Meji period.

so proper regular advertising and viral marketing, how many japanese ports have died because they didn't do this

7 finally has good gameplay so you'll probably hate it.

Well, Yakuza pretty much did for a while. After how poorly Dead Souls did they were just going to stop localizing the games. Then just barely decided to localize 5 with a digital only release they randomly dropped on the PS store after Sony convinced them to due to enough fans writing in begging for it.

>After how poorly Dead Souls
How bad was Dead Souls honestly?

Release on PC

It was pretty shit tbqh and it's not even canon either. I don't know why they localized it.

Because Americans like zombie fiction.
