The issue is that these subscribe to a brand of neomarxism that perceives as legitimate the manipulation of their notion of base and superstructure interactions to push whatever narrative seems adequate. So whatever new hip thing they want to push should be propagandized in video games. Of they decide overnight that guns and violence in video games are bad, they will go for it. They don’t really need a very good rationale to push for anything, what they choose almost seems random at times.
