Asymmetric thumb sticks vs symmetric thumb sticks which one is better? and why?

it makes zero difference, i play in both and I never had to think of it

never used xbox dont know

>main parts top row
>side parts bottom row
asymmetric

Asymmetrical is the only proper way to set up joysticks on a controller.

Asymmetrical is more comfortable because every game requires a lot of use of the left joystick
There is literally an industry built around putting DS3/4/5 innards inside 360/one/SeriesX controllers

>t. dumb AAA consoomer

Xbox one is much better, and I play games on PC with my Ps4 controller. The issue with PS controller is that both thumbs are too close to eachother and it just feels awkward.

top would be better if the sticks were on the top and spaced out more

Asymmetric feels more natural and more comfortable to hold

Reject thumb sticks
Embrace D-Pad

Whichever is more comfortable for the morphology of your thumbs relative to the games you play.

so bottom for everyone who isn't playing sega genesis games

got ya

You can't do this with asymmetric pads making them automatically inferior.

Sucks xbox one controllers are way less durable. had to replace the stick in one the other day because it fell off my desk. Plastic bits in the same spots of the back handles broke off too. Torx screws on top. Don’t know if it’s design or materials but ive never had a DS4 break

asymmetric.
99% of the time your thumbs are going to be on a stick and on buttons, good ergonomics has them both on the same level.

whichever one you used first

Gamepad without sticks. D-pad only.

>soulless purple buttons

Same.

You're taking the meme too far.

this

In 99% of games you use the left thumb stick and the right buttons so the Xbox design is symmetrical for your hands, the PS design is symmetrical for your eyes.

I never liked the Dualshock controllers because of the convex sticks. The Dual Analog had it right but Sony changed it on the DS1

what made the DualShock controllers suck is how close together the sticks were and how far you had to stretch to reach them imo, DualSense spreads them apart a little and the stretch and angle to them makes a huge difference and i find it as comfortable as anything else, Wii U Pro controller also had symmetrical sticks and was actually a pretty great controller, so i dont think symmetrical or asymmetrical actually matters that much to me in terms of comfort nearly as much as just having things spaced in a way that you can use them without strain, Xbox One/Series X controllers and DualSense are tied in comfort for me

there are arguments to be made as far as some layouts working better for some games but that's more of a case by case thing

xbox is better for everything except fighting games

Do people who are retarded enough to not be able to play both ways actually exist or is this a meme?

Never used a US SNES pad but I've always been turned off by the purple buttons. The concave ones remind me of Parma Violets, a British confectionary of compressed perfume-flavoured powder. They taste fucking awful so I guess that's where my bias comes from.

It's not a meme some people are that retarded and just can't ajust

they taste heavenly. go to hell

I prefer asymmetric myself. It just feels better.

I for one genuinely do not understand AT ALL what the problem is.
I've played extensively with both types, and even symmetrical with sticks on top (Wii U), and at no point did I ever think "this is more/less comfortable".
All I ever thought about was the quality of the individual buttons/sticks, and also how useless analog triggers are 99.999% of the time.

I used a playstation controller before I ever used an xbox one and I ended up liking the xbox more.

I only notice it when they're next to eachother.
Even when the analogs are both at the top I don't notice until I compare them.

yeah i get that isn't you, but using a fucking logitech f310 of all piece of shit controllers as your example of "the claw" and speaking of inferiority is kinda FUCKIN HILARIOUS BUD KINDA FUNNY.

using the dpad on asymmetric controllers is pretty bad, symmetric provides a better dpad experience and the stick position on both controllers are fine enough so symmetric I guess

I prefer asymmetric. I own a PS2, PS3, and PS4 and I own exactly one controller for each console because they're garbage. I only use them because I have to.
I have a Series X controller for my PC, it's flawless.

>They taste fucking awful
are you even human?

Doesn't matter as long as the left analog stick is in the top left.

asymmetic is for chads. Symmetrical is for homo's simple as.

Yeah, it's a piece of shit. Note how the wire is wrapped around the pad because the wiring is and it loses connection after a bit of use unless you pin the wire under a specific angle which can be done by just wrapping it around.
Used to have an F310 because it was really fucking cheap and was one of the first pads with an xinput/dinput switch which is really useful.
But thankfully now you have much better options with the same functionality.
