It's already nearing its 4th year, I expect the next console to be announced by the 5th year. Almost all the biggest games have already been released. The only big game left is the breath of the wild sequel, and that will likely be its swan song, just like with every console since the N64. There's still Metroid Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3 but those games were never big sellers. Though Metroid Prime could possibly see a big jump in popularity. A lot of franchises and sub-series sold the most they ever have on the Switch. Zelda, 3D Mario, Smash, Animal Crossing, and Mario Party all sold a lot more than they ever have.
Is the Switch nearing the end of its life already?
It still outsells every other console so no, they'll keep milking it
The president or whoever said it was at the halfway point in its lifespan earlier this year. I expect the next Nintendo console to come out in 2024. They have no reason to stop focusing on the Switch when it's still selling like crazy. Plus, your point about every big game already being released doesn't make sense because there's no rule that says you can only have one game per franchise per console.
forgot the WII U dumbass
march 2023
The what?
they are probably going to announce a pro version like it was rumored for the next year,as much as it's decent nintendo needs to be slightly close to a pc from 2018 to hold more games
obviously not the 4k crap, just a new powerful version without the stupid drift and stable 1080p on portable mode since it's retarded how I can't even reach 720p
If they don't make it another hybrid, they're honestly shooting themselves in the foot
Absolutely not. If anything, a new model of Switch is all but guaranteed sometime soon. I'd like to think we'll get information on April 1 considering how much shit is artificially getting killed off by Nintendo on March 31
Not even close.
November 2026 is the next console.
Yeah, BOTW2 and Metroid Prime 4 will be a dual release on Switch and the next system, like how BOTW was on Wii U and Switch.
...
...
They said its in the halfway point in its lifespan. It'll probably go to like 7 years instead of the usual 5 since its so successful.
Doubt it's near close to the the end of its lifecycle. Anyway, next console is a Switch refresh with a better chip to make people double dip like what happened with N3DS. It's gonna be a small upgrade too, just the same games running with higher dynamic resolution and framerate. Basically enough to continue selling the same product but with enough incentive for enthusiasts to upgrade.
Switch "pro" with better screen and shit is highly unlikely.
3DS lasted for 8 and a half(Technically 9) so I would honestly say a decade desu.
this image was on nintendo's official business website, dumbo.
>2024
Possible, but not even the DS made it to 7 years, and that sold 150+ million.
>Plus, your point about every big game already being released doesn't make sense because there's no rule that says you can only have one game per franchise per console.
That is how Nintendo operates with certain franchises though, they have even said they have a "rule" where certain franchises are one per generation, like Smash and Mario Kart.
No? Are you retarded? Switch has enough steam to last until 2023 or 2024 at the latest. It's not a fucking failure like the Wii U was.
There's still Pokemon gen 9 coming out in 2022
You don't count the years AFTER the next system released, and the Switch was the successor to both the 3DS and Wii U. The switch came out 6 years after 3DS.
The DS was already out of steam by the 6th year despite selling 150 million.
>2010
>out of steam
>when gen 5 released and the 3DS was a colossal flop during its first year
>20XX
We're in the Megaman X timeline?
It's still selling really well, the awkwardness of the wiiu timing means the switch will probably be around for 6+ years
>It's already nearing its 4th year
god I wish
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is considered the "Mario Kart" of the Switch? They still have a big seller inf they put out 9 in this system
There's no point to put MK9 on the Switch. 8D is the best selling Switch game and still sells a fuckload. It already served its purpose for the system. They're better off holding MK9 until the Switch's successor comes out.
That's definitely true for those games you mentioned any maybe some others, but it doesn't extend to all of them. We're already getting a second 3D Zelda, and in the past, there were two 3D Marios on the Wii, two Metroid Primes on the Gamecube, multiple Fire Emblems per system, and probably some other examples I can't think of.
No. Nintendo is dumb, but they can't be dumb enough to release a successor while Switch is breaking records
