Disco Elysium.

they don't exist

Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back

Bugsnax

The first Deus Ex

The last of us 1 isn't too bad honestly.

Most games have better stories than all but a few of the highly rated movies.

I always thought the story in dead rising 1 was way better than any zombie movie i've seen.

On par with the best books have to offer? None. The best in film? Maybe Deus Ex. Plenty of games have better stories than the average novel or movie, though

Silent hill 2

Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2

Alien isolation

Yes it's literally true. I'm not talking about your meme movies from 30 years ago. Any list of actual recent highly rated movies are worse than good games.

Planescape: Torment
Disco Elyisum
Grim Fandango
MGS2

Not an exhaustive list. Just off the top of my head.

This has to be a joke, Disco ELysium story is pure shit, the plot twist was awful ,the only decent character involved in the main quest was Klaasje and even then she was a poorly done noir femme fatale, your partner is unbearable and the setting is pretty weak with a shitload of back and forth.

Greedfall

All of them. Specially Cyberpunk 2077.

Mass Effect? I can't remember it clearly since it's been a decade though.

spec ops the line
the walking dead, telltale
Deus ex series

Based

ME2 story is a 10/10, specially with the suicide mission in the end. ME3 is pretty movie like but everything in the middle is filler and the ending is weak and rushed.

Books are the pinnacle of storytelling, movies are barely above vidya.

The Witcher trilogy. Playing the first 2 games gets you invested in the characters and the world, and 3 delivers beautifully because of it.

ME2 story is great on its own but it doesn't take the trilogy forward. At the end of 2 you are at the exact same spot in the story as you where at the end of ME1. Since the entire game is just about you assembling a team.

No game is on par with the greatest books and films.

Retard take.
TW1 story is the worst shit ever, a poor attempt to copy and paste the Ciri plotline with a boy that was poorly done, specially because of characters like Triss.
TW2 is trash, Geralt would never get involved in politics and everything about the setting is bad, ohhh a king died how interesting and movie like
TW3 is meh, it has amazing stuff like the DLCs and the Crones, but everything post finding Ciri, and even the mean time, everything in Skelliege too, is pure shit.

Final Fantasy X

black ops 1 unironically

MGS2 with the caveat that you're familiar with MGS1. There's also an important distinction between story and writing.

I simply can't take games seriously the same way I can consider a book or a movie. They're just digital toys. Doesn't matter if they have sex and bullets, they're still adolescent at best.

ok so you think the martian has a better story than mass effect.

>an ancient evil awakens
wow kino

mgs 3 is better than most movies or books

Even your dishonest trivialization is literally better than the martian's story.

The Last of Us 1
Uncharted 4 has some great moments but it's not good as a whole

That's pretty much it. I have yet to play Ghost Trick. People hype up the story of that one.

uncharted btfo's recent action favorites like taken.

No i won't, but i will tell yu that there are shitty movies and books too. You're welcome

I am a ludophile myself but you phags would get laughed at on Zig Forums. People here are listing the mgs series. C'mon people, c'mon.

bioshock 1 was pretty well written

Kill yourself or list an example of a good story, then kill yourself

LISA

>Deus Ex
>Persona 2
>Planescape: Torment
>Xenogears
>Hotel Dusk
I would argue these are better most stories in media. To be fair though, most movies are worse than video games. 80% of books are better than movies and games though
