I bought MD the other day on the cheaps but lost interest after the tutorial mission because it felt totally soulless compared to HR. Should I power through and get further into the game (does it get better)?

Yes keep going. Explore Prague, do every side mission, and actually use the weapons you find instead of sticking with stun gun and takedowns like most people do. The augs are a lot better in MD too

I forget, could you pick up random useless shit in HR and the other game? In the original you could pick up any object and throw it around and shit. Can you even blow up doors in Cyberpunk with explosives??? Can you even swim????

Better execution on a much much smaller scale

Yeah in HR and MD you can pick up and throw boxes to distract guards and you can swim in Cyberpunk. I don't know about blowing doors though as I haven't tried

This weapon was so based. I had so much fun sniping people in Golem City and the Swiss Facility. I just needed one more mission with this baby to really fall in love with this game.

No. The main issues with MD are that all the environments are blandly designed and all the gaps in various playstyles have been filled in with new weapons and augments, homogenizing everything.
