Lots of shitty forgettable games. There was that shitty game everyone hyped where you play a postman in the dusty post apocalypse, hand of fate, spiderham, mad max, and those are the better ones. Lots of others but they were so unremarkable I can't even name them. Bamham combat was a huge meme for a while, what sucks is bamham upgraded and iterated every single game with new mechanics and shit but all the games copying it still made you exhausted by the time knight came out. Rock steady really should have sued a few niggers with how blatant some games lifted that shit

PUBG is the most recent one I can think of.
Before that, probably DayZ.
Both spawned a massive wave of their respective genres (BR and survival) to flood the market with early access trash and clones
Funnily enough, both games came about originally as Arma 2 mods, so I guess you could say Arma 2 is the real culprit.

OW was packed with players at launch and has been on the steady decline ever since because Blizzard is a joke at game balance.

Knights combat completely shits on those other games. There's a sense of adrenaline and impact when fighting enemies that does not get repetitive yet it encourages you to do better. Mad Max was extremely repetitive that I dropped it. I started playing Shadow of War and it felt like a cheap copy. Spiderman's replacement for counter was dodging but that felt really iffy to use especially against bigger enemies to the point of frustration. Hand of fate looks flat out bad. Rocksteady can't sue gameplay mechanics but it really sucks that they had to ponder over how to make a combat system suitable for Batman that once it got popular other studios ripped it off with no means to improve it. But the combat kinda originated from Assassins creed, it's that using the same button to attack a counter by holding was annoying and janky.
AC1 had it but it was in first person.

Don't double down on being retarded. Ass Creed is responsible for killing platforming ad level traversal in video games (for ever it seems like) and combat in western video games. Bamham was following Ass Creed when it comes to combat but besides that it added the cancer that is detective vision.
