You haven't been in a lot of Witcher threads have you? I've said that repeatedly and I'm not the only one. That's a minority opinion on /vee/ but it's a substantial minority opinion: you can hardly find a thread comparing the Witcher games without someone ranking TW1 the highest. From what I've seen, I think it's about 30-40% that profess to that opinion around here, and the arguments people have in its favor tend to be consistent with each other.

I have said it many times. It starts out good but the best parts are once you get past the second chapter, although the ending is admitedly weak. A lot of people get confused by the quests and drop it. The sequels never managed to match the authentic slavjank feel.
Same. The rhythm game style was more original and the alchemy and sign magic felt actually arcane, potent but limited. I don't like the budget Dark Souls combat they switched to.

I got filtered by the jank combat. Neither 1 nor 2 had a good intro, and the frontloaded mechanics/rhythm combat struck a bad chord. 2 was great though once I got out of the shitty tutorial and first hour. I think if I stuck with 1 for another hour I'd come around, but man I hate rhythm combat.

I replayed it a month ago. It's still a great game but cheatengine speedhack is a godsend for all the goddamn walking back and forth across the map.
The combat does a lot more things to stay interesting than I remembered, although the balance falls apart in the endgame.
