Early PS3 era was the last time games had SOUL
EARLY PS3 ERA
Gen 6 was the last good gen
fuck off zoomer
ps3 had such a based aesthetic on release and became more lame by the end of its console cycle
I'm actually 29. 7th gen was the turning point for video games
Good memories.
we need a new ridge racer game.
It all went to shit in 2007.
Waste of quads sigma is SHIT get that trash out of here. Black or GTFO.
I think it started to turn in gen 6. The more the internet started to seep in the worse it got, but net was limited then so it was a fun novelty not yet poisoning the lot.
It was oh cool I can play with friend even when they can't come over. If only we knew it would kill couch gaming, people making the effort to come over, and bring on the DLC and patching after release mentality of publishers.
I guess gen7 still had some of the bones of gaming left, but it was on life support by then.
The 60gb ps3 was the best launch console ever in terms of hardware. PS2 hardware backwards compatibility, ps1 software backwards comp, it was so great other than the fact they tended to die after 5-10 years due a a soldering imperfection (although it's fixable if you know what you're doing).
Fuck you
No that exact beginning of an era is the exact point where soul ceased to exist, don't even try to argument against.
Playstation died with 599 US dollars and never recovered since.
>and never recovered since
360 was better in every single possible way.
including soul
Idk why but when Sony changed the art box and logo design, I felt that the future was dark for gaming.
if it was sigma 2 maybe you'd have my sympathy but fuck off poser.
Yup
Pure soul
I know this thread's going to be biased BUT should I get a PS3 or xbox 360 in current year?
360
Cheaper games and systems (in the current year).
Multiplats look and run better on the 360.
(The 360 S) is the most reliable.
The XSX will be backwards compatible with most of your discs.
The emulators have made a lot of progress if you want to check which games you want to play they may be doable.
PS3 has more games that are unique. 360 doesn't have a lot left that isn't on PC though stuff that was only on PS3 and 360 runs better on the 360 normally. So depends on what you want to play and if you have a beefy PC or not.
Good point, my pc's a toaster and I'm more intersted in exclusives on both consoles and how you can "hack" the ps3
No. You need games for that. Sixth gen was the last soul era.
Games still have soul until today, dumb boomers
Just stop playing AAA trash
"Hacking" a PS3 fat is probably the best way to get access to the entire PSX, PS2, and PS3 library on one console. Make sure you get the fat model though since they are the only ones with PS2 backwards compatibility.
Thanks, I didn't know that
If you can find a decent price backward compatible PS3 hacking it would probably get you the most stuff to play.
I could never find one, every time I tried to buy one the seller 'dropped it on the way to mail it'. I'm not sure what type of scam this is, unless its some way to use ebay as a loan system to make rent and refund it after. I have no idea.
I think the slims can be hacked now, can't get PS2 out of them or permanent CFW, but someone correct me if I'm wrong I think they are similar to how the PSP hacking was where when you boot you run a program that hacks it back each time. If you can't find a good condition fat one maybe a slim and get a PS2 since those are normally cheap and super easy to hack as well.
I mostly miss the multiplayer modes. Every multiplayer mode these days is god damn wannabe esports diversity shooter. I just want multiplayer like Splinter cell chaos theory spies vs mercenaries, GRAW, Socom, etc again.
No it wasn’t. Early PS3 era for me was buyers remorse. Guitar Hero 2 worked but the guitar controller didn’t even with an adapter. Blu ray was expensive and hd dvd still existed. There weren’t very many exclusive games and I had resistance fall of man and it sucked. The last straw was the atrocious poet of Fallout 3. I sold that shit and got a 360. What rubbish
I never had the chance to play MGS3's Metal Gear Online and I don't think anyone ever gave a damn about MGSV's, but MGS4 games organized through threads right here on Zig Forums were a lot of fun, and I miss it. Don't miss the redundant process of creating a Konami ID on top of my PSN account of course, but I miss the game.
A hacked fat PS3 is great. So many games can be contained to one system.
The ps3 is unironically one of the best media stations out there for everything from 480i to 1080p, and the early ones even have SACD support
In 10 years time there will be people claiming the PS4 was the last time video games had soul. And then 10 years after that people claiming the PS5 was the last time video games had soul. It never ends. These things have been corporately produced products for the express purposes of generating huge amounts of money from day fucking one. Console gaming has NEVER had soul.
