>Person makes cool mod
>Doesn't release it
Person makes cool mod
ogey
that describes me somewhat. i always do tiny quality-of-life modifications for myself and never share them. sometimes mods for games, sometimes userscripts for websites, etc.
rrat
why are you guys keep repeating these words like NPCs?
ogey
rrat
>watame exists
>she isn't my wife
I just never understood why someone would showcase a mod on something like YouTube where you can clearly see how many people are interested in it and then not release it. If you have no intention of finishing it that's fine but at least upload what was done with it.
Hate that shit
>only gives it to streamers
Fucking gay
kino
those are words?
Veteran mod dev here, releasing a mod can be a hassle because you're exposing your work to the public.
It will lead to a barrage of people who will constantly fill your mental space with requests, lacking bug reports and compatability begging.
You also become committed to the websites you release your mods on and need to keep updating them, which is just another burden.
Kaijit has no time for you
this isn't the life i signed up for
That's understandable but I feel like showcasing a mod and then not releasing it would just lead to people asking for it nonstop.
Yeah a responsability goes along any kind of tool for any game that gets updates. I made a cool tool for a game but once new characters and classes started getting released or current ones got nerfs or buffs or had skills changed, having to update all of it, what a pain.
I just went in to make the idea become true, didn't ask for this
You can just ignore them, who cares?
Release your source code and tell people to update it themselves or fuck off.
>You will never get to play her musical thighs user.
she's so dreamy lads
Hate that dumb rabbit
Y is pika sad?
Honestly it feels like cool mods are dying out. Not many games release their mod tools and for the ones that do, people only change like attribute or NSFW shit. Mods have become boring and doesn't extend the life of a game anymore.
She's getting filtered by tigger
Terrible taste user.
>deliberately makes mod installation complicated so it makes his mod seem bigger than it really is
>You'll never show her your cool internet friends on Zig Forums
Restraining order doesn't let her within 500 meters of a school
I forgot she's into loli
I've mostly just been fucking around with mods for Sonic and Metal Gear games. Both of which having been getting some cool stuff like a custom boss fight in Sonic Forces and porting Camp Omega from Ground Zeroes into MGSV.
...he says on the cringe/based board.
I wish there were vtubers that played mmos. All they play is meme games or shitty indie or walking sims.
Most often a mod dev either changes their mind about releasing it, abandons the mod entirely or encounters a bug or glitch late in the development of a mod which they either don't care to fix or have ways to circumvent that are not available or desirable to the common non-modder.
You can't "just ignore them", most modders aren't sociopaths nor ironwilled.
Releasing mods itself is an act of generosity, why would I upload mods if I didn't care how other people will think about it?
