The reason so many kids want to be a youtuber these days is because it's plausible for them to be noticed or even make their own way online and reach the same level of influence of their idols if they emulate them. Someone obsessed with their favorite actor or musician in the 80's or 90's only had interviews in magazines and on TV to get to know them from. It was a lot more difficult to go from being a nobody to being famous.
