This is still 10x better than DS sewers and other bullshit, like half the game was just sewers and blighttownesque crap

It's easy if you know where to rush to. Besides, poison doesn't fucking do shit in DS3, unlike in 2 for example. Or that rapid poison bullshit in Bloodborne.

Not really, they still have to balance the game around status ailments and slower movement speed. It's just a change of pace and its not necessarily too difficult, the fun is working around the unique obstacles the level throws at you, less of the action oriented level design that DS3 relies on.

Balance the level I mean. Also I feel like it's mostly anxiety that people hate these levels. Slower movement and slow draining health, it puts people out of their comfort zone, but it's still the same gameplay loop, get to the end without dying and collect shit

Holy shit. Go along path with fires . Lieraly 7 enemies along the way and no poisoning. This area is 5 min. Long. Fun begins when you gry to Explore . Jest buy Purple moss

it's the other way round, it's easy to cheese and run through, it's more of an annoyance than anything

I see no problems with this area, any issues you have can quickly be resolved. This area takes 10 mins at most if you collect everything, 5 mins if you just rush to get the gates open.
Bring some weeds, a dagger and some purple moss. Easy.

You know you're talking about a bad area when the first thought people have about it is how to quickly skip it.
Even with a mod that removes the slow movement, this area is still ass. It's just uninteresting both visually and from a level design standpoint. The enemies are annoying as well.

Dark Souls 3 atmosphere suffer greatly from the lack of lighting in areas to give them the oppressive/impressive mood that is present in their concept art.

That's why DS3 has 4 swamps that I can remember. Regular swamp. Poison swamp. Pre-Ringed City toxin-swamp, and then the swamp in the ringed city.
