I FUCKING HATE forced autosaving. Why has this become so damn common? Why do we no longer just have plain old simple save points?

I just accidentally fucking RUINED my Monster Sanctuary save file as I was opening my reward boxes as I was trying out niche builds, refighting old champions.
But I pressed confirm one too many times and accidentally used a Crystal Shard after my reward boxes were empty, which teleported me to the stronghold, which autosaved the game because I entered a new screen. And now my game is fucking fucked.

What's even the benefit of the game autosaving all the time and there being no option to turn said autosaves off? Fuck my save is absolutely obliterated. I ruined all of it.

Why is it ruined? In that game you can reset every monsters skill tree

Well. I can't de-evolve my monsters can I? And I also want my shift stone back.
This was awful. It might be my fault, but it still really sucks.

So how's the game so far?

pick the most meta characters -> grind them ->steamroll content

basically it's broken but otuside that it's fun i guess

Aside from my major fucking fuckup, I've been really enjoying it. Be really careful with the damn autosaves though because that shit is awful.
But yeah I started off really loving it almost immediately, then i started thinking the game might be kind of lame when I realized evolutions weren't like Pokemon, and I also wasn't all that into how the scoring system worked, but then just a couple of hours later I went back to loving the game again and have done so since then. The way the game does evolutions is actually more than fine, and the scoring system isn't as bad as I thought even if the Execution score is real damn finicky sometimes.
Fuck the autosaves though.

What the game really needs though is more monsters. I mean I wouldn't say the game has too few of them, it's just that I'd absolutely love a sequel with even more of them.
Has the game been a success by any stretch? Kind of seems like it sort of went under the radar.

You can buy the items later in the game, don't worry about it.

Also autosave is there to prevent save scumming for items/eggs with those reward boxes.

You get tons of shift stones anyway so I don't see how that is a problem

Customizing your monsters and your team is great. Every individual monster has several skill trees that you can develop to your liking. Every single level giving you more to work with.
And the 3 on 3 battles are also much more interesting than say Pokemon's 1 on 1. It also really adds to the elements and strengths&weaknesses game.
Oh and every single monster has their own weapon and accessory slot with tons of different gear to further customize them.

The champion and keeper battles are also way better than gym battles. Or I think so at the very least. They actually make you feel like you accomplish something in the world which is a nice feeling.
Most of the secrets when exploring the world might be kind of obvious, but the way you obtain/discover these secrets using the exploration/map abilities of the monsters you've raised is actually a pretty nice feeling.

The game is also pretty forgiving. With cheap respec items and the ability to refight boss fights to allow you to obtain higher ranks if you didn't obtain them the first time. I'd recommend not going full autism on the boss ranks though but if you enjoy it you sure can delve into it.
The way scoring against regular mobs work though is pretty good with how it means you can obtain great items from higher levelled fights if you fight smart, while still being able to obtain these items more and more easily as they become less rare/relevant. It's pretty dynamic while still letting the player dictate where on the scale to challenge themselves.

I personally think the world is pretty cool too, but I'd be hard pressed to say it's something all that amazing. But the lore is still kind of neat. And I like how you raise monsters birth instead of mind controlling wild beasts after catching them.

Fucking finally! Defeated spinner at 5 stars

Now that we actually have a thread of this game I might as well ask.
Any idea how the Spirit Strength ability works? It reads
>Aura: Buffs are 15% more effective on allied Spirit Monsters

Let's take Might as an example. Normally it strengthens physical skills by 20%.
So it just adds 15% of that 20%? Giving you 23%?
And if you have say Multi-Might with 3 Might buffs for an extra 40% you get 46%? Is that it? Is that worth it though? Seems kind of underwhelming.
I've had my Frosty since the beginning of the game though. Chances are I'll stick with it just because I feel like it.

Been wondering the same. But by think it's additive. So it's 35%, I think

Leaving a monster behind in order to make room for a new monster feels way worse in this game than in pokemon. I want to use all of them.

What do you mean?

I’m digging the game so far but man the composer needs to do some work. Tell me that gets decent at least because I’m at the first area near the old guy’s house and shit is sounding like Sonic: Dark Brotherhood.

Sure

>using the furry insert

no its shit

Does any other monster steal buffs? And her kit works kind of well with Mr. Bones

You can switch them out at any time can't you?

I actually did it! I 6 starred my first champion!
And the game actually gave me something for it which I kind of wasn't even expecting. It was just the against the Steam Golem and the reward is kind of no big deal whatsoever. But this was still no easy feat for me and I am really happy I was able to do it.

Can someone explain to me how Execution actually works though? Why did I only get 57%?
I used one Buff action. One attack that the Golem is resistant against. And two 4 actions that it's weak against.

As I understand it the execution score rely on getting high combos with your first two monsters, and then high damage with your third monster. While getting bonus points for each time you exploit a weakness or something?
But I only did one attack that didn't exploit a weakness and I only got 57%? Is it because my attacks didn't combo high enough? How high should the combos be for 100%? What's the standard here?

Well it's currently at #27 on Switch's best sellers and #8 for download only best sellers so not half bad I think. Really hope there's some DLC on the works

I really love the music. I think it's actually really good.
I just wish there was like, 20% more of it or something. Just a little more variety.

Now I much prefer good music over having a wide variety of bad music so I really am just nitpicking. But you know. Right?

Somehow I suspect there is an absolutely massive difference between the top 5 and the rest of the top 10. So how good #27 really is I have no idea.
But then again I really have no idea about anything. I really hope it's been doing well though. I've really enjoyed it.

I'm really enjoying this game so far, it strongly reminds me of dragon quest monster joker (which i would recommend to anyone that enjoys this game, just be warned it has one of the most fugly protagonists).
Only thing i'm missing is more evolutions, and the "puzzles" are mostly pretty shit.

Would a proper thread of this be more active? Or is this just what to expect of a game like this?

Yeah I considered that but even still the fact that it's up there at all with only a $2.00 discount is worth something imo

I would love a thread, but haven't seen any the past few days (i was even despersate enough to check out /vp/)
