It's probably the most generic series I've ever seen.

Just Cold Steel, or Trails in general?

dont care, i see anime girl on cover i will jack off to it

>mocking someone mocking a game by showing them as a mockery of one of said game's characters
What level of Autism are you on?

I would call the series prototypical, not exactly generic. It's like they grab every JRPG convention and focus on perfecting the execution.
A few weeks ago I was thinking about the JRPGs I loved most as a kid, stuff like Breath of Fire 3 and Legend of Legaia, so I went back to play them on emulator and I was shocked to see how much worse they are compared to Trails. Turns out I had some rose tinted glasses about the level of detail and worldbuilding in those old games, and the Trails games are the ones that actually live up to the standards I believed those other games set.
It's weird, it's like it fools your brain into thinking that you've played these games many years ago, but when you go back and actually replay those old games, you start to appreciate how perfected the Trails games are compared to them.

That's every Trails game.

>These other games spend several hours reiterating information and explaining what you would assume, therefore they are superior.

Kiseki is an autism magnet.

Unironically, it get good after 50 hours

Yes

Very minor nitpick. Only really a problem in cold steel, which IS a garbage arc compared to the other 2.

gets good after 3 50+ hour games.

Bitch, even comparing the Trails in the Sky games to BoF3 is like this. TiTS isn't "deeper" it just goes full sperg and refuses to shut the fuck up. It is not any richer or deeper as a narrative for this. In the time it takes to even reach Grancel you're DONE with BoF3, and what do you get in exchange? Exciting trivia like "Bose is near the imperial border, so it's a Mercantile hub?" The fact that Ruan's mayors have historically been elected from just one family? Zeiss used to make clocks but now it's Orbment R&D Central?

Give me a fucking break.

>level of detail and worldbuilding
People always see this but I've never seen it substantiated. At best people mention that the games talk about topics other games normally don't. I never noticed anything in these games that was more elaborate than your typical RPG, it just tends to explain everything directly to the player.

>Haha
Now you get the joke.

Enjoy while it lasts. It gets worse when it gains a plot.

This also applies to Sky SC and Ao.

>Falling for the bait
Haha, innocent anons...

haha... user... you got filtered... this is you right now!

Be honest with me bros, how is the gameplay in this game? Is it any fun?

B-but the cliffhanger!

Pretty fun, based off CS3's demo and the sliver of Sky FC I've played. Think FFX's system with positioning, as well as special attacks you can use, even when it's not that character's turn, yet.

Early game, your options in combat are limited, which might hamper your experience. Early midgame, when you're starting to have more Arts and Crafts, that's when the combat starts picking up and gets more enjoyable. Customization in this game is broken fyi. Try searching some gameplay at jewtube.

I'm a cold steel fag but yeah the first one is litterally world and character building.

Its fun, but by the end you are basically NEVER going to actually die unless you try to.

They didn't go all out on the story yet

Played CS I in November, CS II in December.
Its a good game, but I felt that some of the plot elements were not that well written. For example, Crow being C. There are some hints that its a possibility, but the game did not provide sufficient motivation for why that would be the case until after C's identity was revealed, and really only fleshed it out in the intermission in CS II. That's bad narrative design right there. You don't outsmart the player by hiding enough details to figure out who the bad guy is until after the reveal, you give sufficient, but not obvious detail during the run of the game, and then pat them on the back if they get it right. I actually thought Rufus Albarea was C up until the reveal, and I still feel that the game would've made as much, if not more sense, if that was the case.

You fuckers tricked me into playing this trash, I'll never forgive you.

>tricked
Your fault.
There were hints with C being Crow before the reveal. Basically Crow was always absent whenever C is up and vice versa. I believe Crow also tells you his hometown was Jurai, which at the time was recently annexed by Erebonia. Now if you want something that's actually stupid, in Cold Steel III, when you meet George again and his full name flashed in the screen, the entire conversation was about the Gnomes. If its intentional or not, its pretty jarring to see the connection, especially with what happens later on, because you cant tell if this was the writer's attempt to have the audience brace themselves for George or not.

To add, you already know the codenames the Liberation Front uses just use the first letter of their first name. By Heimdallr, you already know comrade G is Gideon, and a bit later comrade V for Vulcan and comrade S for Scarlet. Of course that leads to comrade C and you can narrow it down easily by then.

Rufus was the bait, all the hints pointed at him just so they could pull a fast one on the player at the end. But anyone should have started suspecting Crow during the mine part where he conveniently was left behind right before C’s boss battle.

>nothing happens until the last couple of hours
There, fixed it for you.

That's literally every single first game of a new arc in Trails. The first game in the Calvard arc will 99% be like that too.

haha
