I really want the game but I genuinely think it may impact my schoolwork if it's too addictive. Is it being deemed "video game crack" overselling it?
Should I purchase factorio?
Other urls found in this thread:
Buy it fag
depends on the person
some people get addicted and log in 2000 hours in a year, others drop it after an hour
and there are some like me who got addicted for a i logged like 200 hours in about 3 weeks and then drop it forever and never touch it again
I'd advise you to do one of the following :
- Download the free demo and try it
- Pirate the game (it's fucking easy)
Then buy it afterward if you feel like it
This
If you don't like the demo you won't like the full game. If you like automation games you'll get hundreds of hours out of it especially with mods.
Yes.
>I really want the game but I genuinely think it may impact my schoolwork if it's too addictive.
I almost failed some of my finals because I decided it was a better idea to play factorio than to study/sleep.
But yes, the game isn't memed about being stupidly addicting for nothing.
Nah I log a crap tonne of time in one sitting. then drop it, start up a new world a couple months later fixing the mistakes I made in my last world and just get stuck in this cycle.
It's great
Why is oil?
Fluids in general.
They scare me. I like belts, not pipes.
Set up minimal plastic fabrication but haven't played since.
I hate it.
just use barrels user
how do you output barrels straight from pumpjacks? must be modded
i don't understand the pipe flow calculations and i swear to god it's not even fully completed
just get pump on every 8 or so tiles and you'll be golden
it is addictive for a while but then it gets boring, it's unlikely that you will expend hundreds of hours on it
don't listen to him he is lying barrels fucking suck
It isn't addictive to me in the traditional sense. Once I start playing it I lose track of time, but I can easily choose when to play/not play it as it's somewhat mentally taxing
Yes, but only for a couple of playthroughs. There isnt much to do after that if you're not a mega autist with huge IQ on top of that.
After a while you'll see that every problem that you encounter was already solved by a 150 IQ german autist with a efficiency you can only dream of,and is ready made in a handy blueprint format you can tell your bots to build. Thats when the game ends for most people.
Relying on blueprints you didn't make just ruins the game
Yes, but what also ruins the game for me is that whatever I make will be hugely suboptimal. I did 3 full completion playthroughs, had a blast, never touching again.
Are there any objectives in the game other than making the rocket?
Now that I've seen speedruns of the game I just don't see the point in doing anything except follow the speedrun.
people who complain about oil are such filtered babies. they already removed mixing fluids in pipes so that it's easy as fuck. just pipe oil into your base and determine ratios or even just use circuitry to get around the math if it's too hard. Don't barrel, it's for retards. Factorio's fluids system isn't even as fucking convoluted as something like Oxygen not included
I guess, but it's the sort of game where, as long as you're not supplying too few resources, it doesn't really matter in the end.
Unless you're playing with maximum biters, then shit gets real
ONLY WHEN ON SALE. I love this game but it is not worth the 20 dollar price tag.
>it's 30 now
Holy shit.
The objective is to produce 10 billion science per minute.
How can you be so wrong? It's the most highly rated game on steam, excluding multiplatform games.
>Billion
Better spin up a couple hundred clusterio instances, lad.

I regret buying it, its insanely repetitive and boring. Also the devs policy that the game will never go on sale sucks too, because it sure as hell aint worth that price tag compared to other indie games.
Because it has fucking ZERO replayability after launching your first rocket. THIS is the only other reason to start a second game. If you like trains and shit, sure, go for those rail achievements, but it offers nothing after launching your first rocket other than researching stuff for 10k of each science for +.01% faster fire rate for turrets. Wow.
there will never be a sale
I got it yesterday and I hope to reach a level of unorganized convolution that I completely forget how my house of cards factory even functions.
Try some mods.
Also, wild guess. You're someone with thousands of hours in either CS, TF2 or some kind of Moba.
Dev had basically gone on record to just pirate the game, and only buy it if you want forum access. The game will always be full price (no sale) and forum just allows access to the official mod library.
is it just me or this game is much more expensive on Steam than GOG?
Factorio is my most played game with over 500 hours. As I said, I love this game but it is not worth the 30 dollar price tag as you can get the same game with Mindustry for 5 bucks or even Shapez.io
