Why doesn't god want people building a tower to heaven?
Why doesn't god want people building a tower to heaven?
it's the abstraction of institutional power. If you make institutions so powerful that they overturn even your morality you create a pathological society. There ought not be any societal structure on earth that is more powerful than a human's connection to their own spirit.
(1) everyone should 100% realize is is one of the parable stories, not one of the history stories in the Bible
(2) the classic reading is become man was trying to compete with god.
...
Also. lol you cant build a ladder to heaven, heaven isnt actually in the clouds or some shit, god knew this.
More like tower of retardation, amirite
Because he doesn't want to have niggers in heaven
Retard here, had a psychotic break once and my mind built a jenga tower to space really fast!
God initially gave humans three commands: Don't eat the fruit of good & evil, be fruitful & multiply, and to spread to the ends of the earth. The gathering of the whole sole nation was main issue here.
We have air planes, helicopters and space ships now, why doesn't that bother him?

These are both correct. However I'd interpret it as man thinks that by his own capabilities he can be like God, the embodiment of morality and the world, and surpass the transcendent values that all people must hold. This is put down by "God" or perhaps by the nature of the world. The message is that you should never think that you can act above morality or above / outside the order of the world and if you do, you will fail brutally.
I just thought actually that this may be applicable to Nietzsche's idea of the death of God and Carl Jung's idea that that is in fact impossible.
It's possible mathematicians back then knew you can't have enough surface area for this and we're having a giggle
Hairless Thom Yorke is laughing at this "abstraction" at this moment.
If you interpret the story literally and don't see the metaphorical or parable value of the story, you're either wilfully ignorant, incapable of abstraction or just a pseudo intellectual.
I'm not sure Amazon is particularly evil fundamentally, even if there is some admittedly mistreatment of some people. And the point of the story may not be that you literally cannot do this, it's that if you do, you will eventually fail.
The stories in the bible are all literal since it builds up continuity, retard.
Pinus envy
I guess you think the CIA is good as well?
Depends what they're doing. They have a long and continuous history of hurting their own people that they're supposed to be protecting. But, if you were actually stopping terrorism and foreign shit governments from trying to screw us (without hurting us more than the enemy would), then that's good.
The Bible is a collection of the most important books from over 4000 years and probably a lot longer that has been translated and re interpreted an unknowable amount of times. Just like "Sun Tzu's" Art of War, it is likely that these people, who had very little written history, largely took some real events and combined them fictional or metaphorical characters and events from oral traditional stories to produce a meaningful and useful result. I.e continuity does not mean this cannot be both literal and metaphorical.
It is 100% literal, retard. The goddamn genealogy proves its suppose to be a literal continuity.
I don't know that much about physics but the tallest buildings in the world right now are made of flexible steel and people say if you're at a higher point in a building like the Burj Khalifa that you can feel and see it swaying around in the wind like a tube man
The metaphor is that multiculturalism is bad?
he was scarred of a unified humanity
>this ancient book of fairy tale is true
>well except for all the part you can poke holes in
do christkek really?
they all had the same language, we very close genitically and a common goal
Far from multiculturalism
God doesn't want any competition, the tower represented humanity's desire and ambition to reach His realm without permission, thereby undermining Him. He had to put them in their place.
That's actually not an accurate interpretation of what I said. I specifically pointed out that it is a combination of parables and literal events to create something true. But this depends on what you mean by "true". Truth is not only a literal word meaning something that provably happened. It can mean a deeper, empiracle truth. Something that is difficult or impossible to verify but in all applications turns out to be accurate as far as we can tell.
And god didn't like it?
Multiculturalism = multiple cultures /ethnicities in the same living spaces assimilating
If they assimilate, there is no multiculturalism. This is, generally speaking, desirable.
>This is, generally speaking, desirable.
why?
An ancient homogenous society existed, bigger than, say, New York. An ancient homogeneous civilization that existed for about 1,000 years, and instead of having other ethnic groups / tribes / races being kept out, they decided to started to bring them in to as servants, so they brought in outsiders.
Then the egalitarian/multicultural/neo-marxist ideology started to take root, claiming that these other people should play a bigger role in the civilization that the original inhabitants built.
So they went from living outside, to working there, to living there as "equals." The civilization's creators forgot who they are and decided to unite under an ideological banner or egalitarian idea, that they are all the same.
So they decide to build a tower, to take which was once separated and to unite it under their own ideology. So they build a huge tower to stretch right up to the heavens to represent their ideology. One language, one people, united. I think they built the tower and it was huge and went up to the sky.
It was their monument to celebrate multiculturalism/diversity. It's a metaphor that plays out in our society all the time: we are told that we are all one, all the races and ethnicities are the same, we must unite and mix together and be brothers, "natons of immigrants" - this is what they were celebrating with this tower.
"God" didn't like it, he made different races for a reason.
The Bible says it.
>The Bible says it.
Genesis 11:
11 And the world was of one language and of one speech.
2 And it came to pass, as they migrated from the east, that they found a valley in the land of Shinar and they dwelt there.
3 And they said one to another, Come, let us make brick, and bake them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and bitumen had they for mortar.
4 And they said, Come, let us build us an city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heavers; and let us make us a name, otherwise we shall be scattered abroad upon the face of the world.
5 And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the sons of men built.
6 And the Lord said, See, the people are one and they have all one language; and this they begin to do; and now nothing will be impossible for them, which they have proposed to do.
7 Come, let Us go down, and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.
8 So the Lord scattered them abroad from there upon the face of the earth; and they left off building the city.
9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confuse the language of the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad upon the face of the world.
well we already live in that world, retard
