I mainly wanted it for news & tutorial websites which just return plaintext, but for some reason in CY+3 need 30MB of JS and CSS just to do that. To most sane people "weboob" sounds completely normal, If someone would have asked me yesterday I would have guessed "weboob" is a name of a Chinese software company. It's not like the software is fucking called WEBTITSRIPPER69 or something.
I feel very uneasy when maintainers of the distro I use are zealots who are for some obscure political reasons willing to remove software used by thousands of people. Some people spent countless hours making/maintaining the package just to help people and now all that work is gone, collateral damage. Users will have to go through hoops to keep their software up to date, not a problem. Thousands of people will miss out on using cool software, acceptable casualties.
I guess it's human nature to abuse the power you have over others, still you should have some standards and not do so. The fact that it's not just virtue signaling anymore, but actual harm being done to users is what worries me most. (admittedly small harm, for now)

It's something I've thought about a lot but never bothered looking for the solution. Sounds nice for casual browsing, but I wouldn't trust the maintainer for something like a banking website. I really wish they had some sort of API scraping toolkit for probing websites to go along with this.
This is why I don't mind all the fractured package repos around Linux distros. So shit like this doesn't affect the entire ecosystem.
