Iconic & Reliable

What is 'the Casio F-91W' of other tech?
I.e., inexpensive, well-built, reliable, outdated, & iconic.

Friendly reminder graphical calculators are a shitty meme designed to jew highschool and college students through making them mandatory for exams.

A shame that the N900 is a stillborn child.

That, and the MX518. I'm never buying a new mouse again!

That's it? No more iconic meme thingies?

ITT obsolete shit that looks terrible
A Pontiac Aztek is easy to spot, but that doesn't mean it was designed well

In awe at the size of this lad. Absolute unit.

Attached: gtx480.jpg (1280x720, 130.33K)

Yea no
The 8800 GTX would have be passable (even though it makes no sense to use them anymore anyway as there are more powerful cards around that use way less power). The ultra version was a ripoff, about 15% faster tops and way more expensive than the GTX.

...

it wasn't as iconic, the ultra had the weird cooler that stuck out, unlike any other card at the time
the 8800 gtx was more practical but didn't stand out in terms of looks
this is a thread about old tech you stupid fuck
you are missing the entire point of the thread

I think we need a CoC

Enjoy your """modern""" planned-obsolescent botnet garbage

8800GTX was the 2600k of it's time, too bad most of them died because of Bumpgate.

But I want small form factors and efficiency and also infinity MIPS

Good taste, but the HP-42s is even more iconic if you ask me. It's even being cloned by the Swiss now.

Everything else in that era was just bloat.

Get with the times, grandpa. That thing can't even do 16-bit arcade graphics!

yeah, really awesome, user

I suppose it's because that dinosaur can't go online, that'd help you cheat on tests.

I had to pay $100
I agree that the TI83 is appropriate for students. My problem is since you are forced to buy that exact model, Texas Instruments can name any price and you must pay.
The TI83 should NOT cost $100, it shpuld be more like $25 new and $10 used

The 8800GT 512MB was the go-to recommendation tbh

thank you

Hell, you could get cheap epoxy blob soc stuff more powerful than that for $20 during the late 90s and early 2000s- so it isn't as if it's an issue of that still being expensive to manufacture like it may have once been.

What a funny way to spell 48G(X)

can't disable angle snapping on it
G502 is a pretty good flagship successor even if it has an edgy design.

wtf is that, and why isnt it pic related?

The Toyota Land Cruiser (FJ40, made 1960s-early 1980s).
A resounding yes to all.
No. At the time they were being manufactured, I assume the price was reasonable for what they were, but examples of the FJ40 in good condition fetch a very high price now.

Oh oh oh oh. You were conditioned by Corporations to have low expectations? You were programmed to think 'computer games' were supposed to be monchrome 160x144 graphics in 198fucking9?

Damn youngsters and your split-screening hedgehog chasing ways.
I owned both, and a saturn too

Monochrome? Hardly. The NES couldn't display the entire 8bit gamut at once (which comes as a surprise to the "I fucking love 8bit NES games" hipsters), but it wasn't like a gameboy.

← The only Top Gear that matters.

Additionally, nowadays if you really need or want it you can just use emulators. I own a collection of scientific calculators on my phone and PC.

The real thing has a battery which lasts months or longer, real buttons, is always ready, no distractions, and won't spy on your calculations.

50G beats the 48G(X) in every way.

Way to embarrass yourself there

50G uses normal pen cells and can also be powered off USB.

Yeah sorry, I was thinking about the 35s
Still, the buttons on the 50g are atrocious and the glossy screen is pure cancer

On the other hand the 50G is many times faster than the 48's and uses SD cards instead of the insufferable proprietary HP cards.

This piece of shit breaks down in two weeks

People still say this?

Oh sorry, did the cable break after a months of use? Well, that's just unfortunate.
I went through three of these before I finally gave up on the model, and the entire brand for that matter.
Reliable my ass!

THIS

Housefires with poor image quality even relative to a $69 Wal-Mart monitor these days. But 25 years ago they were the shit.

For me it's Multics – intelligent, nihilistic and with a wicked sense of humor.
PL/I was first implemented by IBM, at its Hursley Laboratories inthe United Kingdom, as part of the development of System/360.The first production PL/I compiler was the PL/I F compiler for theOS/360 Operating System, built by John Nash's team at Hursleyin the UK: the runtime library team was managed by I.M. (Nobby)Clarke. The PL/I F compiler was written entirely in System/360assembly language. Release 1 shipped in 1966. OS/360 is a real-memory environment and the compiler was designed for systemswith as little as 64 kilobytes of real storage – F being 64 kB inS/360 parlance. To fit a large compiler into the 44 kilobytes ofmemory available on a 64-kilobyte machine, the compiler consistsof a control phase and a large number of compiler phases(approaching 100). The phases are brought into memory from disk, one at a time, to handle particular language features and aspectsof compilation. Each phase makes a single pass over the partially-compiled program, usually held in memory.

Probably not, there's what, only one running installation? What are you using as your OS? Windows or some Unix or Unix-derived system?

What is a worthy replacement for the WRT54GL that supports alternative firmware (OpenWRT/LEDE/Tomato) and has up-to-date hardware features?

For the price you can't beat PortaPros. If you break them after four weeks you're a Lennie level retard.

What backwards reality do you live in?
Programmable and graphic calculators aren't even allowed to be used in exams, much less mandatory.

There are great not-at-all consumer level brands like beyerdynamics and audio-technica

Yep, still use it, till it die

shit

is there a better panel that I could put into mine? i can't stand the screen.

I have a netgear WNDR4000 that is pretty good, dual radios and n 300mbps if you need it. No a/c mode though.

When the 3310 is too sophisticated and posh for you.

FOR THE MOTHERLAND

Attached: T34-85_mod43_ukraine_aug44.png (709x240, 182.27K)

All of these "outdated" pieces of technology would still work fine today (with minor tweaks). It drives me insane that people throw out good products just because they are "old". Of course our retarded economic policies following myths of perpetual growths facilitate this consumerist mindset, but it really ought not to be that way.

If you think the "smart phone" has revolutionized the world in any positive way, please get in the oven.

The only thing where newer stuff often (not always) is better is power consumption, especially when we're talking PCs. It's usually just not economical for a person to run older hardware because you don't get a lot of performance for your Watts.

That being said, a lot of energy is spent on producing these new gadgets like smartphones, something people often forget. Energy from the electricity running the factory that makes them to the gasoline that goes into the trucks, airplanes and ships that transport them to the retailers and the raw resources to these factories. You'd really have to use some of that stuff for at least a decade to justify the ecological footprint, which does not happen. The current rate at which we burn through energy to make these toys will not be sustainable forever. This is fact. Sadly capitalism is actually dependent on that perpetual growth and it is not a solved problem of our system. We will have to rethink eventually if we want to avoid a giant collapse.

Oh I agree there can be improvements, but really, a lot of "innovation" these days is just upgrading for the sake of upgrading.

Talking of energy, I get very annoyed when people tell me their e-readers are saving the environment by cutting back on dead trees. They never consider the time it takes to regrow a tree, vs the time it takes their battery cell to decompose, especially when they probably upgrade (for no reason) their e-reader every 3-4 years.

Actually has more parts than I would have imagined, but then I know next to zero about guns.

I imagine the m-16 schematics run for dozens of pages?

Let's take a look at this thread then shall we.

I still rock my F-91W but IBM keyboard are way more expensive than what they're worth especially when you can get a reliable mech keyboard for much cheaper.

The 2G network has already been shutdown in my county.

Networking is not my thing so I can't comment on this one.

Actually useless my phone could probably compile C code faster, terrible trackpad and can't even use it as a meda or shitposting because of it's trash display.

lol.

sums up how I feel about this pretty well.

Even chink pmp's have superior DACs

Disgusting.

Reasonable enough.

Enjoy your vulns retard.

Best post.

A cheap android smartphone with a keyboard case and termux surpasses this in every way.

Based.

My fans broke after 2 months with this thing it's far from reliable, and the replacement I got sent had working fans but overheating issues, far from reliable.

Can be emulated at 98% accuracy.

Cars are the only tech I'm happy with keeping for longer than 12 years, just werks

Absolute trash display.

Based.

Yes and no. It has a roughly similar part count, just different bits and pieces.

So you have to *comment* on EVERYTHING, like some retard?
Is your autism kicking in??

k lol, have another one then

why would you need that device?
for smoking? smoking is for white niggers, dumbest goys. you pay for ruining your health and smelling like shit, while sending huge money to jew who produces this poison

Stop being a fag.

Every white man should have the capability to create fire on demand. Lighters have nothing to do with smoking any more than knives have to do with mugging.

...

If you think lighters are only for smoking and not a necessary tool for survival in unforeseen situations, you are a fag.
Stop being a fag.

Why don't the Europoors make /comfy/ cars any more? That 240DL is kino, the Bertone version is even better but near unobtainable.

Casio F-91 didn't even last me 3 months on the job, screen cracked and water got in. Pretty crappy. Was comfy wearing it though.

Forgot pic. Took a hit from a scud missile.

Attached: Gulf War Game Boy.jpg (400x320, 42.62K)

It gets recommended a lot here because it's cheaper to replace, if you want something SCUDproof I suggest gshock.com/watches/digital/gx56bb-1

I was making a point that a lot of outdated tech isn't usable judging by the posts in this thread, lrn2read.

Why does the actual screen still look pristine? To me it seems like they just put the innards and screen of a working GB into the melted hull.

Because it's fake.

Right part of picture seems to imply that it's on exhibition is some sort of museum.

The screen was replaced to demonstrate it was still functional.

Let's smash a CRT monitor with a hammer and then replace the tube to "demostrate it's still functional".

Not electronic, but still tech.
