I have the Key2 and like it but it's annoying how much neglect Android and their applications have for keyboard input.
fucking
Tech that you horribly miss
Throwing flip phones in general up on this list. Yes, they do still make them, but in terms of power and features they're regressing. Dating myself, but my first phone was the Verizon CDM8975. 1.3 MP camera, 60 MB internal storage with microUSB able to be added. That phone lasted 7 years before it finally gave up the ghost, and two years of that were spent with a hole in the top corner where the hinge had busted apart. Not super capable but a very rugged and reliable phone. When it gave up the ghost I got an LG Exalt II. No external screen just some stupid LED based notification system. Navigating menus was slower, key press latency is horrendous. The 5 MP camera and significantly larger internal screen were nice upgrades, but there is a clear insufficiency in processing power. Durability also suffered with the hinge cracking within 2 years. Ergonomics were inferior with the longer length of the phone resulting in my having to choose between having the speaker above the optimal position or end up breathing into the microphone.
Can't hold onto this though as Verizon is dropping their 3G network which will leave the Exalt II unusable at the end of the month. They hadn't notified me I found out as I was shopping for used phones to part out to fix my current one. Their current stand-in is the Exalt LTE which is directly inferior. It has the same screen as the original Exalt and a 5 MP camera like the Exalt II. Weighs more, slightly longer. They eliminated the monochrome front LED screen so you can not tell who is calling you, you can not tell if you have messages without opening the phone, and you can not see the clock without opening the phone. This is absolutely retarded and severely harms the usability of this device. This is a clear example of the latest model being inferior to the prior iteration.
All other market options are jitterbug boomer shit, are clearly flimsy in the hinge, have worse cameras, or are just as expensive as a mid-level smart phone. I'd switch carriers, but our current plan is dirt cheap for unlimited. There isn't much of anything better out there with other providers though. The only thing approaching a decent flip phone I've found so far is the Samsung Galaxy folder which doesn't play well with most networks, is expensive, and still suffers smart-phone bloat I'm trying to avoid.
I got the same, it's pretty decent knowing this came out in 2005. I found a hacked ROM from Spiaatie enabling it to run Windows Mobile 6.5
It's a good dektop clock/calendar, excellent for playing solitaire, and hell... it's stylish.
As I expected.
The best thing about PDA's is how flexible they were, as customizable as an average linux distro
they just renamed those to smartphone
Best analogy I've heard so far
the last true nokia phone after m$ acquisition and tried to purge Qt project at the same time
you can do that if you had the n950 and ported linux considering it's 2011 arm7a and should have the FPU though too bad M$ bought nokia so M$'s likely gonna patent troll china in case production reopens at some point to protect their pc market from any instance of pc competitor but pockets'.
Isn't the first one the same phone Hillary Clinton used to discuss with the deepstate contact the 8 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ with her self-hosted mail service?
This PDA, the HX4700 was also a phone, this one was manufactured by HTC not by HP properly, when they made the HTC Roadster which was just the HX4700 with a cellular radio module, it still came with these specs and functions, touchscreen and all long before the iPhone was out.
I often heard "lol this is a chinese clone of the iPhone they called it iPaq" despite the iPaq brand is from the 90's Compaqs PDAs, back when Apple didn't even release the iPod. (and unlike Apple it's made in Taiwan, not the commie part of China, therefore respecting my engagement to not buy anything from PRC.)
I doubt it, this is not a phone but really a PDA, and now you make me scared to know Cunton had the same.
Excellent analogy! also Thanks for reminding me to make a backup of my system SSD, but all of my documents and works are kept on magneto HDDs.
what happened to it?
ans speaking of music players, i still carry my iRiver H10 everywhere as my main music player, so i can be free from phone. And I even managed to upgrade it from a 20GB hard disk to a 128Gb compact flash card, and a new battery.
That's enough storage for all my music, it's bootable so I can carry a Linux on it, and keep a few utilities and files other than music/video.
the recording function is also a must if like, you don't want to miss a conversation...
I don't know if iRiver kept with updates but Rockbox made enough audio codec supports, even MP4, so i often download videos from youtube just for the audio. This thing is unbreakable I hate it. There's even an asshole who made PORN of it!
even back in the years ago /g/ was shit. but pone better.
