Is there a pro-con and comparison of GNUSocial, Pleroma, and Mastodon? I tried out GNUSocial the other day and came across some issues and am waiting for instance admin to get back to me.

Pleroma is written in Erlang as Elixir, which is an excellent language outright and an absolute god-tier language for services. It gives you tools that you don't even know you'll want one day when you're writing a server in any other language, which then are "too hard to retrofit into my design" when you do realize you want them.

I mainly picked GNUSocial since it was a first choice and I didn't like the Twitter-clone looks on the others. I.e I really hate the infinitely long page / scrolling that Twitter and Steam does, and prefer numbered pages.

The Good thing about GNUsocial is that you can also make it work without user side JavaScript.

It's an opt-in system for site administrators for their users' data to be held in the EU and referred to by other site administrators/INTERPOL.
For the moment, that means it only affects bad sites like Twitter, Facebook, Google, 4chan (I wouldn't be very surprised at this point), etc., but your own national government might want to check it any time they want to, since the website's basically doing what it'd take any country millions of dollars to attempt doing, and they're free to check the data out any time they want to. Maybe, they could feasibly even make participation mandatory. And this is Freedom Land I'm talking about, not the U.K./E.U..
