Beginning with Windows Insiders builds this Summer, we will include an in-house custom-built Linux kernel to underpin the newest version of the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL). This marks the first time that the Linux kernel will be included as a component in Windows.
I don't know what to do with this feel
Win32/Linux is happening
Well, like your post already says, Windows Subsystems for Linux has been a thing for I don't know, several fucking years now and already has quite a bit of compatibility with GNU/Linux software. So I really don't understand what's so surprising about this. Currently WSL requires you to install Ubuntus utils to get shit like apt and basic GNU compatibility but it looks like Microsoft is trying to gut that requirement.
when your OS sucks so bad you bundle Linux with it to keep devs from jumping ship
2019 will be the year of the Linux desktop.
Ok buddy retard
Pretty sure fedorafags have to drink several liters of that stuff a day just to cope with how pathetic they are.
OP only drinks manjuice
mfw OP drinks only Soylent
Why don't they just take Linux or OpenBSD and make their own distro?
Testing the waters. I firmly believe this is their actual end plan for Windows, but they don't want to risk an all-in. So they go little to little adding bits of Linux here and there.
but its nothing if it isnt replacing the nt kernel
looks like some retard got triggered really hard
I really don't know what to think anymore.
"The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice."
And then Microsoft buys systemd and rename it Windows 11
It all make sense now.
Don't let your memes be dreams.
Microsoft open sources the NT kernel
Linus dies, Lennart becomes the new head kernel maintainer
Shits out GNU/Windows to raving reviews from Valve and Epic
Lennart becomes CEO of Microsoft, creates the Systemd license
Systemd/Lintux gains 40% market share in a decade
riddled with viruses, adware, rust and other normalfag CIAnigger tranny botnet shit
BSD becomes the new Linux, AmigaOS the new BSD
I wonder how much of the windows NT kernel is copied from unix and linux? I am guessing upwards of 70%.
Microsoft can't be bothered with Windows anymore cus Azurebux
Open sources the entirety of Windows
WINE becomes 99.9% Windows compatible
Microsoft releases Windows 11, powered by Linux in association with WINE
Linux gains 99% marketshare overnight
MacOS just dies
get extinguished as people see how much better wangblows for lunix is
This would actually be the worst case scenario. Because the windows faggots would infect unix more then unix is already shit. Thereby mothballing the pile of shit that is windows with the polished turd that is linux, making a steamy pile of bullshit.
Oh and then there's all the nsa backdoors implemented since windows vista that would go unoticed or ignored. Along with the code quality being horse shit.
Linux is the nigger of operating systems.
The problem with this is that Microsoft would still remain the Technicological Arm of the Zionist Occupational Government, and would have a million and 1 backdoors with code so bloated it'd be impossible to remove them all (think Chromium's code times 10 billion)
Linux Zealots are already retarded, and I doubt that Microsoft/Linux would be taken seriously in the UNIX world. I also think that since a lot of Linux Zealots don't know what UNIX is, any thing they do would remain centric to reddit posts.
Nice. This should finally allows NFS directories to be usable in WSL.
Here's a better article with more technical detail:
I already see how tards are reacting.
"I don't have to run Linux anymore, I got it right at home, here on windows!"
By the way the GPL2 is about as much of a cuck license as all the non-copyleft licenses for allowing the abomination of mixing proprietary and free software to exist.
The GPL2 is a distribution license. There is nothing that can be done when people want to bundle proprietary software together with "not linked GPL software". The GPL can only apply to the distribution of GPL software that is "linked" with other software.
when linux on desktop only happens because of Microsoft bundling Linux with Windows
Absolute clown world, also based Microsoft
wow guys, we can finally run linux programs natively on windows!!
thats literally the opposite of what I want
Haiku would become the new BSD.
brb, releasing everything under AGPLv3 now
when our own OS sucks so bad we have to bundle linux for its technologies with it, as it has become industry-standard
when you have to force people to upgrade and offer it for free but they'd still rather stick with your legacy OS that's 10 years old
LE BASS Macresift. Epic
All according to plan
Embrace, extend, and extinguish", also known as "embrace, extend, and exterminate", is a phrase that the U.S. Department of Justice found was used internally by Microsoft to describe its strategy for entering product categories involving widely used standards, extending those standards with proprietary capabilities, and then using those differences to strongly disadvantage its competitors.
