It's funny how they're saying look to Australia when Switzerland has about 2/3 the murder rate per capita (0.69 per 100,000 for Switzerland compared to 0.98 per 100,000 for Australia) and 1/2 the crime rate per capita in general. (21.76 per 100,000 compared to 42.55 per 100,000.) Even gun murders per capita are only slightly more in Switzerland than Australia. (0.21 per 100,000 compared to 0.18 per 100,000.) Switzerland also has similar gun ownership and gun laws to the USA.
