Pol, Nader's your guy

yeahhhh, those swaps look like it would ruin the handling

They weigh the same gearbox included. But I would give you the point and say the BMC will be a bit further back, making for slightly quicker turn in but we are talking few percent or so difference, nothing you'll really notice or feel.
B18C should also be a tiny bit higher CoG due to heavy valvetrain. But that will be mostly cancelled out by the massive power increase.

FD is a poor candidate as it is a four seater (well just..) and the engine actually sits very far beyond the strut towers. They are made for rotangs really. An E-swap would be my reccomendation and what I'm looking at doing next if not going down the predictable 450-500ci SBC route.
Really for track cars the FD and S2K are similarly poor engines. Both do not last on track.
That said an NA rotang will last longer than a turbo. It's the turbos that kill rotary engines.

F20C cossies are fucking rapid rally weapons. That's why they use them. Quite a few out there. There is also a caterham based kit car that uses F20C or K24 from memory too. So it makes a very tight market for low kms jdm spec F20Cs :( Very sad really because it means the cars they come from get harder to keep going as originals. I might pick another one up later one day if I can afford to and keep it stock, they are only appreciating in value from here on in. Would be a less hassle weekend car, don't have to plug the damn dry sump reservoir oil heater in before going for a drive. S2K Prices gone up about 10-15% in last 2-3 years. FD RX7s are similar. I'd recommend if you want one for a swap, get a rolling shell ASAP.

I never considered it but yeah.. ain't seen a mini in videos from USA either! It would be hilarious to see you do your swap there, could troll the shit out of the locals with it xD
You're right though the mini crew has two camps, some like swaps but I think more prefer original. That said the original engine is a bit of a slug and spend a lot of $ for not much gains. Can't touch a modern engine with heaps of flow and computer designed stuff.

That's very impressive actually. Going to have to check out what they sound like now, I like some IL6s. RB26 is my favourite sounding followed by TB48DET. Barras are also great engines and cheap as fuck over here (our version of an LS really they get swapped a lot too) but they don't sound very good for an IL6 and are fucking huge. 07+ though you can get reasonably reliable 500kW with a big turbo and basically no other mods kek.

Kek I like you user. I'm the same for many cars.
They build these amazing platforms and chassis and then stick 'whatever we could find in the parts bin' and call it a day. Or they are limited by some local law, insurance or other bullshit. That always pisses me off.
One day I want to do a v8 duramax (or maybe cummins if it fits) Rolls Royce, one of the older cheaper ones of course lol.
A K24 1st gen Prius would be awesome. They are fast as fuck without a turbo already..
Seen an LS Crossfire too, pretty hilarious. Sort of like the look of them too, I don't know why.
I also like total sleepers and utter slow shitboxes with crazy swaps.
You'll probably enjoy this youtube.com/watch?v=YDjqygCqzSs
It's been faster since and the they made an even faster merc based one with a SBC.

Cheers!

my reasons are less about power and more "how in fucks name is this thing gonna get serviced properly?"

Gosh, that's a great idea too.
That would cause some major butthurt to all euro dealers involved and all the jdm faggots would love you at the same time.
That's the sort of thing I love too but is rarest type of swap, when it's a bitch to service/costs too much, e.g. lambo/bentley/rolls engines etc.
You could probably power the car on the salt LS swapping an aston would generate.
5.3 iron block and twin china ebay 66s out the hood would also be hilarious.
JZ should fit too though, long bonnet and FMRish type design. Might weigh about same as an SC V8 also, probably a little further forward weight but DB7 is a little heavy so it wouldn't be much of a difference. I would hoon the shit out of a JZDB. Please make it happen, user! If I hear of it I'll be in touch ;)

The servicing angle was exactly why I dumped the F20C. Also the smiles per $ were low.
Can get to all the plugs in mine no problem, it's like they seriously contemplated making a J32 or something V6 S2K… p.s. that's another great unknown swap engine.
People swapped them into civics, ebay turbo, 700-800hp and lasts for ages, even stock trans if you don't beat on it too bad kek. Unopened!
They also cost a few hundred bucks and are a bit shorter than an LS, similar width. Gazillions of them in accords and people movers.

Ive thought of an LS R32 to troll import guys, get an R32 GTS and put the GTR bodywork on it, LHD conversion, then rip out the RB problems and replace it with some LS3 from a junkyard pickup and put a super charger on it

also thought of merc w126 SEL take the subframe/suspension from a supra and shove it on there with the front clip from a SEC swapped onto it then LSX, take the 560 M117 out and take the crank shaft take a 1989/1993 500SL with the m119 with that awesome nonslush 4-speed auto it has, bore and stroke the M119 and use the crank from the M117 560

other than Ls swapping a 540 e39 is like the whole dream list

LS R32 I'd also love to do. They are cheap here and common (not so much GTRs but you can see an R32 most days driving around).
There is a skid car r32 here that's ls1, there is also a really quick one in auz. My mech has the only 13b r32gtr ever built xD It's called porn but the latest plate is RF13B, which is to troll the skyline fans. They say 'RFB' which is R fuckin' B and go on about how hard they go etc.. so yeah. Salt generation on wheels. We will go cruising together with the swaps and it'll be quite a bit of entertainment. It's super clean though, no expense spared.

Merc 126 restomod sounds brilliant and would totally be different with such an engine build. I think it'd be more of a cruise toy though you wouldn't want to look after if beating on it with the older bits harder to find. Cool idea though :D Love the way your mind works!
Burgers do amazing things with C6 vette chassis + old ass stingrays or early vettes etc, that I think is the pinnacle of swapping.. new car feel on awesome looking body but I don't want to know how much that costs, kek.
e39 540 LS would be WICKED.
I've always wanted to do a volvette/240 GL baby blue with the tissue box and the hat in the back window etc and TT LS under the bonnet xD

I think those vette chassis swaps end up being like $150k, theres a company that takes old barnfind cars and they map out the body dimensions and fabricate a corvette based chassis to fit underneath it

w126s are actually common in california, it wouldnt be about finding parts, more about shipping costs

I don't understand why Skyline and RB motors are so desired by enthusiasts. The simpler Nissans that you can beat the fuck out of are way more fun.

Weight reduction, in this case. The frame is very strong. Also, real bolts instead of the oversized computer screws that Nissan likes to use. Not much has to be done. One time I dropped it off a jack and had it slam into the pavement on its frame, and not even a scratch. Still needs a damn engine, and I'm broke from my last adventure.
