Basically the establishment has a candidate selected whom they'll run in the primary. This candidate will run a slightly less cucky version of Ryan's persona and make some Trumpism noises, will have an incredibly large ad budget, will come outta nowhere once Nehlen starts to seem comfortable as the "only" GOP candidate, and in addition to all this, the establishment GOP and the CoC goys will come out with a really big smear campaign against Nehlen personally; maybe they say he went to Russia to have whores piss on him or something.

The vast majority of these are safe seats for the GOP, I've looked at the stats for every district. The few that aren't, the current rep sitting there is either worthless i.e. basically a Democrat already, or is something special like that (((Cuban))) bitch out of Miami. It's not to make room for Democrats; it's something else that's afoot. My initial thought was creatures leaving the swamp so as to not get exposed when it drained, but that answer doesn't satisfy me.

The retirements are 15D/36R so far. Most of them are in extremely safe districts. Out of the 9 districts considered competitive (the incumbent won by less than 15 points), 4 are held by Democrats (NV-03, NV-03, MN-08, NH-01).

I mean NV-04. 2 of them (NV-03, MN-08) are likely GOP pickups, NH-01 is leaning slightly D and NV-04 is leaning D as well.

Keep in mind, it was only a few years ago that any of the half decent Representatives were purged from any positions of power by the GOP, so the probability that they'll put one of them up for Speaker is basically zero.

Nehlen will have to beat his other primary challengers, but it is great news for his campaign effort. To unseat a sitting Speaker of the House is a monumental undertaking, you have the national GOP and the state GOP (in Wisconsin in 2016 it was basically the same thing) dumping funds into keeping the status quo going, and the district set to lose a lot of sway by having the new appointee not be the Speaker of the House (in all likelihood). With Ryan bowing out, no doubt to some cushy high-paying lobbying job while he still gets to make 80% of his former paycheck in pension, the mountain Nehlen has to climb got a lot smaller. So did the significance of the climb, but I'd rather win an easy battle than narrowly lose a hard one.

I don't think the GOPe is as coordinated as commonly stated, so Nehlen has a chance. I can see Ryan being fed up and not running without the GOPe having a candidate prepared.
