An aside on alcohol and opiates. Doctors are taught that "pain is the fifth vital sign." This means it's as important as heart rate. They are also taught you must believe the pain level. This means a tattooed red eyed sleepy patient that says they have an 11 out of 10 pain, you need to treat them for it. Combine this with patients in inner cities that wont leave the ER until they get benzos and norco, and the doc has someone with a possible aneurysm next door, a quick refill will help save the life of that dying person.
