NN was an old business principal turnt into law but as streaming became popular ISPs shitty infrastructure couldn't handle the load of increasing data usage in suburban areas, instead of modernizing their infrastructure telecom conglomerates like AT&T and Verizon pushed to remove regulation on their services (killing the only leverage consumers have on the ISP monopolies) allowing them to throttle data and package websites (meaning offgrid sites like this one would cost more to browse). Now the good thing is the FCCs regulations are still technically in effect and don't rollover until this summer, which immediately we'll be seeing alt-media sites drop like flies (don't forget the groups who own the media own the ISPs)
Prior to this however, by pure (((coincidence))) pajeet pai a former Verizon lawyer was appointed head of the FCC by trump, who immediately began shilling the idea stripping NN would allow a "free market" ignoring the fact telecoms own all power lines and ground cables, startup ISPs were never fucking happening. But it fooled the lolbertarians who took it hook line and sinker.

Honestly, NN should have never been put in place, because it seems that the government has designed it that citizens would suffer at the tech companies who consume large bandwidths or the ISPs having the freedom to limit internet access to their customers. Either way, blame it on the kikes.

The registrar shut them down, and soon after stormfront was also choked, ICANN wasn't involved in the process. (I remember when stormfront shutdown they registered on multiple domains and normalfags kvetched to shut it down)
It should still worry us though.. why of ALL TIMES back then would those sites be killed? as a test? a warning? have the kikes had that nuclear option ability for years? both sites ran on .onion domains for weeks, crept back to the clearweb and nobody seemed to notice, as if it never happened. Cuckchan is hosted and registered within the US, they're likely the prime target of that exercise if any real threatening information leaked out. Similar to how recently 4pols been frozen.
Otherwise the whole thing was random and unexplained.
