I am sure that we all know that a fundamental campaign promise was made by Trump in the 2016 elections. From his first day of officially running for president, he promised a wall on the southern border with Mexico. He also promised that Mexico would pay for the wall, direct check or otherwise. It has been almost 500 days into Trump's first term as president and a status check on the current events surrounding the wall is due.
Trump himself has secured meager funding from congress in order to proceed with initial construction on his wall. Contractors have been picked to create prototypes for the wall and the selection was completed earlier this year. High traffic areas and cities are seeing increased fencing or walls being built. On multiple occasions he has signaled that the administration has already begun construction on the wall but the question remains: where?
The Trump wall is an effort that has been continually blocked since its outset. I am disappointed that 16 months in and we're not already in full steam ahead production but I'm also not platinum mad it wasn't up January 21st 2017. There is at worst only another 2 years for this to be undertaken and at best another 6 but progress up until this point has been slow and at this pace it remains in question if it will be completed in any major way.
There is also the issue of Mexico paying for it which Trump has either stopped mentioning continually or only at rallies and places where it won't make major headline news once again. Where in the future can we see this finally gaining steam or will this campaign promise be relegated to the history bin of the "campaign promises" of presidents?
Wall or not, muds and apefrican "Refugees" are down to nearly nothing. That alone gets him re-elected.

It was also mentioned that there is still 2 years to go and we need to look at the horizon for related news to it. You speak as if it's May 2020 and a similar amount of progress has been made in which anyone could see its failure as a promise.
